Yesterday, at the Farm we were blessed with the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) Secretary-designee James Bond presented Dogs2DogTags with a Veteran Mental Health Grant check for $77,008 to their Executive Director, Tammy Graf, and President, Torre Willadsen, at their training center in Plymouth, WI. This grant will be used to train and place service dogs with veterans diagnosed with post-traumatic stress or anxiety. There is no cost for veterans to receive a dog.
He was joined in the check presentation by our WDVA Veteran Outreach and Recovery Program (VORP) Supervisor Chandler Miller, and VORP Region 13 coordinator Mark Provencher Jr., and several veterans with service dogs who have received services through Dogs2DogTags.
This grant is part of Governor Tony Evers’ $10 million investment to support Wisconsin Veterans, funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). These grants have been made available to nonprofit organizations that promote positive mental health through activities, programs, and services that enhance the emotional, psychological, and social well-being of Wisconsin Veterans.
