The Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) serves as the research and development arm of the Department of Homeland Security. We help improve security across the nation by developing innovative technology, knowledge products, methods, and solutions to address the critical needs of the Homeland Security Enterprise. A large part of our mission is finding solutions to better enable and protect the men and women charged with securing our communities and critical infrastructure, including first responders, Border Patrol agents, Transportation Security Officers, cybersecurity professionals, and more. Our responsibilities are wide-ranging, focusing on all aspects of the nation’s security to include first responders, cybersecurity, critical infrastructure, community resilience, ports of entry, and chemical/biological threats. We achieve our mission by partnering with the private sector, academia, and other government organizations to develop new technology capabilities and transition them to market. Innovating across the Pond! After attending recent National Protective Security Authority (NPSA) (based in the UK) hosted CORE events, S&T’s C-UAS program was able to procure an innovative, AI-based video software package and a radar with innovative target classification algorithms to incorporate in our own testing and evaluation. In preparation for their next CORE event for AI-enhanced C-UAS, NPSA is seeking interested vendors of AI-assisted Detect, Track, and Identify technology to participate in this year’s event.
