Congratulations to Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra Executive Director Warren Hyer, who will be retiring at the end of July! Today in session, the Commissioners thanked Hyer for his contributions to the community over the course of his 33-year career while the Symphony grew from its roots as a small community musical group to the professional orchestra it is today. During his three-decade tenure, he also developed music-education programs for local schools, served on a mental health advisory committee for local courts, and helped establish the Delaware County Convention and Visitors Bureau while serving as the organization’s first board president. Hyer was joined in session by his wife, April Nelson, and his children, David and Elizabeth.

Wondering what's happening at 109 N. Sandusky St.? We've just begun a renovation project so our Public Defenders Office can move in. It was formerly home to our Regional Planning Commission, who have since moved out to the Byxbe Campus. This should take a few months, but we're looking forward to preserving another beautiful building in downtown Delaware!

Less than five months to go before the general election in November, but our countywide team is already meeting to run through potential scenarios that might make operations more challenging: severe weather, power outages, poll workers who can't make it in, raccoon invasion, bomb threats, online misinformation (OK, maybe we didn't have time to run through all of those). But a huge thank you to all the offices and agencies that participated: Delaware County Ohio Board Of Elections, Delaware County Emergency Management, Delaware County Sheriff's Office, Delaware County Auditor's Office, Delaware County Prosecutor's Office and the Ohio Secretary of State's office. We're working together to make sure every vote and voter are safe and secure in Delaware County!
