Construction will soon be underway at a transformative mixed-use project in Delaware’s burgeoning Riverfront District. We were pleased to join RiverWest Partners and The Daimler Group, Inc. for a groundbreaking ceremony yesterday for the Mill on Flax, a $40-million project that will build 162 apartment units plus a 10,000-square-foot commercial and amenity building on a 5-acre site near the Olentangy River’s east bank in the City of Delaware, OH. Delaware County’s Economic Development office provided an economic impact study performed by The Montrose Group, LLC in support of the project. The estimated economic impact of the Mill on Flax project is $101 million to the state and local economy. This includes construction jobs, as well as the direct and indirect jobs attributed to the project. The Delaware County Finance Authority issued a $2.5-million infrastructure bond and a $249,900 loan for the project and has approved a sales-tax exemption for construction materials.

Economic Development at work.
This past Wednesday, I had the joy and privilege in sharing DCT's service with City of Sunbury, Ohio Council at their historic Town Hall. Since I started my time here at DCT, Sunbury has been a city of interest for us to look towards for growth in our services. We are excited for what the future brings between our two entities! We will have more to share about that, but here is why I snapped this photo... I walked out of there around 8:00pm on a Wednesday night while Sunbury City Administrator Daryl Hennessy, his staff, and Council Members headed by Mayor Joe St.John remained. And here is the kicker, they had already been at the Town Hall for sometime going through macro-level projects to detailed matters. This is public service. Late nights. Putting in the work. Hearing from the community and giving space to be heard. In a world that is becoming too disconnected, know this - your local leaders care. Your elected officials want to help, and they are. Communities like Sunbury are tackling the existing reality of today's challenges while preparing for the future. Thank you City Administrator Hennessy and Mayor for your leadership!
