Congratulations to Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra Executive Director Warren Hyer, who will be retiring at the end of July! Today in session, the Commissioners thanked Hyer for his contributions to the community over the course of his 33-year career while the Symphony grew from its roots as a small community musical group to the professional orchestra it is today. During his three-decade tenure, he also developed music-education programs for local schools, served on a mental health advisory committee for local courts, and helped establish the Delaware County Convention and Visitors Bureau while serving as the organization’s first board president. Hyer was joined in session by his wife, April Nelson, and his children, David and Elizabeth.
Delaware is so incredibly fortunate to have COSO and beyond fortunate that Warren led it into what it is today. Fingers crossed the weather holds off so we can all enjoy this years July 4th concert!
Upon returning to my hometown of Delaware Ohio twenty two years ago I was pleasantly surprised to learn we had this amazing symphony. Warren has guided our symphony for decades to the levels of success it is today. Congratulations Warren Hyer.
Thank you, Warren, for your devotion to our community. We’ve been blessed to have you!

1wMr. Hyer is "First Class". I have had the pleasure to work with him closely on the Board for a Decade. He is "The Symphony" in many respects. A gifted musician, musicologist and historian. Yet the most important element Warren has brought to the people of Delaware is: FRIENDSHIP. A special person, that has enriched the lives of many through the Power of Music. Thank You Warren, all the best !!! 🎼
