  • 👋🏾 I'm Brandy, and I'm passionate about making our U.S. healthcare system safer. I've been working in healthcare for years, and I've seen firsthand the challenges that can arise when teams don't have the systems and processes in place to ensure clinical quality and patient safety. That's why I do what I do. I'm a Clinical Quality Advisor and Consultant, and I help healthcare teams create the systems and processes they need to reduce preventable harm. So, if you’re struggling with a clinical outcome, or need help preparing for a regulatory review, reach out so I can help. And if you are a clinician who wants to join this mission of improving patient safety, I can help you get involved. Let’s improve healthcare together.

5 Must-Ask Questions Before Accepting Your Next Non-Clinical Role 1️⃣ What does success look like in this role? Purpose: Learn what's expected, how soon it's expected, and how you can grow professionally. I once had an interviewee ask me "what could I do in the first 90 days that would make you happy you hired me?" 2️⃣ Why is this position open? Purpose: Learn what you're getting into ahead of time. Did the last person jump or were they pushed? Or is this a growth position that didn't exist before? 3️⃣ Were there any internal candidates who wanted the role? Purpose: A lot of companies will promote from within, so if you get the role, you'll know that you were a stronger candidate and you'll also learn if someone is throwing shade your way. 4️⃣ Have there been any recent layoffs or any corporate restructuring? This one may not be a deal-breaker, but it is good to know coming in. About a year ago, I applied for a role that I ultimately did not take. Around the time I would have been scheduled to start, they had a bunch of layoffs. 5️⃣ What will the day-to-day look like? What am I missing? What other questions do you ask when interviewing for a new role?

Don't Get Left Behind... Today, Dana Prommel Strauss joins me on the Kairos Conversations: Connecting with Quality - Podcast (again!) to share why Therapists Should Join Primary Care Models of Care. Dana is a fierce advocate for therapist involvement in value based care. This episode is jam-packed; we never seem to have enough time together! On this episode, Dana and I discuss: 🌟 Primary and specialty care models 🌟 Practicing at the top of the therapist license - how to change the narrative around how therapists are valued on the care team 🌟 Why therapists (or any non-physician) will get left behind if not actively pursuing value based care models - here’s what’s coming If you want to make an impact in healthcare AND advance your career, then this episode is for YOU!

I help healthcare teams create systems & processes that enhance clinical quality outcomes and reduce preventable harm. | Clinical Quality Advisor & Consultant | On a mission to make healthcare safer.

I was at the Emergency Department with a family member recently. The Physician Assistant (PA) came into the room to do the initial evaluation. The family member requested to see a physician instead (which is their right) because the visit would cost the same regardless of who saw them. I started thinking about my own profession. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, if I see a patient for a physical therapy treatment (after the initial evaluation), they would pay the same as if a physical therapist assistant saw them. That's because of how insurance and billing works. So, I'm curious, what do ya'll think? Should healthcare services cost the same regardless of the level of education (or experience) of the care provider? Should you pay for the outcome or pay for the individual providing the service?

It started by accident... I was a physical therapist working in a community-based hospital. I applied for a supervisor role that I didn't get. After some deep soul searching, I decided I wanted to move away from direct patient care and found a love for #healthcarequality, where I could impact more patients than I could at the bedside. After landing several non-clinical roles in patient safety, I realized that I was landing roles that were historically reserved only for Registered Nurses. People would ask me how I did it, and if I would help them with their resume or interview skills. So, organically, I started coaching clinicians on how to do what I did. And they started landing their dream roles, too. Over time, that's how Defining Point Coaching & Consulting was born. If you need help in your journey, reach out and let's see if I can help. There's no need to take this journey alone.

Want to make $100K + in your next role? When applying for that next role, have you... ✔️Clearly articulated the value you bring to the table ✔️Demonstrated why your next employer should pay you that much Or have you simply talked about how you want the employer to help and support YOU? Most employers are willing to train, mentor and develop their team professionally… BUT… they do not want to hire someone who will be a “project” for them and pay them 6-figures+. Are you a healthcare professional currently working in a direct patient facing role, looking for a career change? Do you still want to use your clinical expertise in your next role? Have you been hitting roadblocks in your application process? Consider that maybe, just maybe, you haven’t shown your next employer why you are the best fit for the role. Let me know in the comments what roadblocks you’ve been hitting and send me a DM if I can help.
