A new law in Connecticut requires high schoolers to complete a personal financial management course to graduate and we want to make sure CT teachers are prepared to incorporate the new requirements into their classrooms! That's why we are offering an in-person teacher training in Hartford, CT on July 18. Share this great opportunity with a teacher you know in CT: https://lnkd.in/e7H4CcAz #Connecticut #educationnews #personalfinance #teacher

Students may be off for the summer but their teachers are still busy learning!! 📚📝Montana educators gathered last week to learn, network, and share best practices to bring economics and financial literacy to their classrooms. The Montana Council for Economic Education, an affiliate of CEE, put together this program.

CEE is thrilled that Governor Newsom signed AB2927 into law, guaranteeing access to a course in personal finance for California’s future high school graduates! With nearly half a million students graduating California schools annually, the passage of this law is hugely consequential. But…we are disappointed that the bill allows students to substitute personal finance for the state’s preexisting economics requirements. Economics prepares students to analyze and improve all decisions, helping prepare a civically engaged electorate. CEE celebrates AB9227 but will continue to fight to reinstate economics education for our youth.

These Maryland teachers started their summer break learning about new tools for their classrooms next year! 👏👏 This in-person course, hosted by the Maryland Council on Economic Education, highlighted the Stock Market Game, which is a 10-week simulation for students to create teams and manage a hypothetical $100,000 portfolio. We have more in-person and virtual opportunities for teachers throughout the summer. Stay tuned!

Kudos to these teen girls for starting their summer at the Invest in Girls Summer Symposium in Fort Collins with Economic Literacy Colorado. The students learned about #personalfinance and careers in #finance. In the financial services industry, Executive Committees are only 16% female and Corporate Boards are only 20% female. These trips introduce girls to aspects of the financial world, so they can participate in it–and make it more #equitable.

We are still reliving the excitement of the National Personal Finance Challenge! Young people who compete in the NPFC have a distinct advantage: they not only deepen their personal finance knowledge, but they also develop essential career skills – critical thinking, teamwork, and presentation skills.
