"The more access to capital I have, the more I’m able to invest in myself and my restaurant." Maria’s passion for cooking started at her family’s restaurant in Ecuador when she was growing up. Her family’s business is now the inspiration for Maria’s restaurant in Jackson Heights, NY, where she serves recipes passed down from her parents. Fifteen years ago, Maria joined Grameen America with a first-time loan of $1,500, and has since received more than 20 loans to support her growing business.

The unwavering spirit of #entrepreneurship lies at the heart of every thriving community. Grameen America, Inc. has been a beacon of hope and opportunity, providing microloans, financial training and support to thousands of women across the U.S., enabling them to turn their entrepreneurial dreams into reality. The impact of Grameen America has been profound, particularly within the Black community. By empowering Black women entrepreneurs, Grameen America is not only fueling individual success, they are also fostering economic growth and community resilience. These entrepreneurs are creating jobs, building businesses and inspiring #future generations to follow in their footsteps. I am proud that Southern Communities Initiative (SCI) has been instrumental in this effort. By partnering with Grameen America, SCI has provided critical support and resources to Black entrepreneurs in the Southern U.S., where economic disparities are often concentrated. Together, we have opened new doors of #opportunity, ensuring that financial inclusivity becomes a reality for all. One of Grameen’s most significant milestones was opening its first location in Atlanta, GA, which has since provided vital resources to a region brimming with untapped potential. Since opening last year, this branch has already served over 290 Black women entrepreneurs and has provided over 390 loans through the Elevating Black Women Entrepreneurs Initiative. What’s most exciting is that this initiative is not just about providing financial support — but also about equipping entrepreneurs with the resources and tools they need to be successful. Let’s continue to support and uplift entrepreneurs. Read more. https://bit.ly/3XF7cGi #Entrepreneurship #FinancialInclusion #CommunityEmpowerment
