  • In advance of Hurricane Beryl making landfall in Jamaica as a potentially devastating Category 3 storm, CORE has rapidly deployed vital supplies including tarps to secure damaged homes. A 40ft container of relief supplies is currently being unloaded by the US Navy in anticipation of the storm. CORE is continuing to monitor needs and will mobilize a team to the island as soon as it’s safe to do so.  To support our critical humanitarian response, donate at coreresponse.org/donate   #hurricaneberyl

  • CORE's impact was highlighted extensively in Global Heroes, featuring our work from Haiti to Kentucky. Our CEO, Ann Lee shares, "Since CORE’s inception after the 2010 Haiti earthquake, our approach has been to provide critical humanitarian relief for communities who need it most by listening, learning and taking action. A willingness to take calculated risks and to constantly adapt has fueled our growth as an organization and allows us to remain nimble to respond to urgent needs around the globe." • We urgently need donations to help get vital support to flood-impacted families in Brazil. When an emergency strikes, every minute, every dollar, makes all the difference.  Here are the ways your donation makes an impact: $25 – Improving Health: Supplies hygiene kits, baby supplies, and clean drinking water to ensuring health and safety. $50 – Cleaning Homes: Provides a family with a clean-up kit, a push broom, squeegees, and N-95 masks to help safely clean their home from flood damage. $75 – Providing Comfort: Supplies a mattress, restoring a sense of comfort and stability. $100 – Feeding Families: Delivers non-perishable foods and milk or formula for babies. Thanks to the generosity of Frank Giustra and the Giustra International Foundation, all donations directed towards Brazil (up to $100,000) will have double the impact for displaced families. • CORE began working in Haiti in 2010 in response to the earthquake that devastated the nation. Since then, we have been running community building programs to build back a stronger Haiti while responding to emerging crises over the years. As Haiti today grapples with civil unrest, CORE is providing vital services throughout the country. Currently, over 5.5 million people need immediate humanitarian assistance as basic necessities including food, health care, and clean drinking water are increasingly difficult to access. In coordination with our partners World Central Kitchen and Acceso, we have distributed over 1,500 food kits to displaced households. Each food kit provides three meals a day for an entire month for a household of five and contains staple ingredients such as rice, cooking oil, peanut butter, beans and canned salmon. CORE and our partners are locally procuring all materials to ensure we support the Haitian economy during this critical time. To support our ongoing efforts in Haiti, visit coreresponse.org/haiti/

  • Haiti-based CORE staffer, Garry was interviewed by The New Humanitarian to discuss humanitarian operations and security, as Kenyan police began their deployment to the country Tuesday this week.“ There are people in Haiti who live day by day. • As a result of the Russian invasion in February 2022, millions of Ukrainians were forced to flee their homes seeking safety. The conflict created the largest humanitarian crisis in Europe since World War II, as entire families were unable to meet their own basic needs. With the war well into its third year, the UN estimates 14.6 million people remain vulnerable and in need of assistance.  CORE has been providing emergency and long-term support, collaborating with international and local partners to meet the critical needs of refugees and internally displaced people within Ukraine.    We are supporting the repair and construction of bomb shelters in schools to ensure students can safely return to classrooms as the war wages on and continue their education among their peers. We are also providing cash assistance to help families get immediate access to essential items, such as food water and medicines. • It's been nearly two months since torrential rains triggered catastrophic flooding in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil. A series of floods wiped out vital infrastructure including roads, bridges, water, and electricity. Clay-colored water rushed into homes, buildings, and businesses, impacting over 2 million people and leaving nearly 600,000 displaced. Locals with access to small boats or kayaks carried out desperate rescues alongside state agencies to save stranded neighbors, pets, and livestock.   Sadly, many families are still displaced or returning to uninhabitable homes. Their needs are tremendous as they work to clean up mud, debris and mold and to rebuild.  Our teams are continuing to respond to underserved communities. CORE urgently needs donations to help get vital support to families throughout the region.     Learn more by visiting https://lnkd.in/g-MPNPD7  Thanks to the generosity of Frank Giustra and the Giustra International Foundation, all donations will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $100,000*, until the end of June. #brazilfloods #riograndedosul #brazilfloods2024 #core #coreresponse

  • One year has passed since the outbreak of conflict between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces (RSF), sparking a nationwide crisis that has resulted in the widespread displacement of millions, loss of life, injuries, and a food security emergency. More than 8.6 million people have fled their homes since the conflict started and more than one-third of the country’s population are facing acute food insecurity.  What's more, about 25 million people, of whom over 14 million are children, need urgent humanitarian assistance.    CORE is working with local partners to support the ongoing needs of conflict-affected communities in Sudan. CORE is delivering multipurpose cash assistance (MPCA) to conflict-affected households to meet basic needs such as food, hygiene items, medicine, rent, communications, and other needs.     Learn more about our Sudan response at https://lnkd.in/g-AN-DGG #sudan #CVA #coreresponse
