Friday was a momentous day for NREUV. We closed Ninety-Four Ten Hough (NFT) in the Hough neighborhood of Cleveland, OH, as the lead developer. NFT was another complex NREUV transaction with 14 sources of financing. NREUV strives to develop some of the most complex and impactful projects. Project Community Capital® and WFL Collective will be on the ground in Hough ensuring that residents who live at our development and in the neighborhood substantially benefit from the project. Our development partner, SLSCO LTD. from Texas, took a chance on us. They purchased the building on faith before they met us, and selected NREUV as their development partner the same way. After the project was stalled for two years, we are grateful to SLS for believing in us and allowing us to wrangle this project to a closing, as difficult as it was. A special shout-out to : Valarie J. McCall for helping NREUV get through the process with the much-needed ARPA funding to fill the project’s initial GAP. City Council President Blaine Griffin, Former Councilman Basheer Jones, Ward 7 Councilmember Stephanie Howse-Jones, and the City Council for believing in us from the very beginning. Meg Garrett for bringing this project to NREUV on SLSCO’s behalf, you have been one of our biggest champions and a very good friend. The City of Cleveland and its Community Development Staff, especially Mr. Anthony Bango, for rolling up his sleeves at the last minute to help us get this done and for finishing first—he is such a GEM. The State of Ohio Development Staff, Karla Gulker, Caroline Johnston, Shaun Sagle – they are the fastest processing state government I have ever done business with, the most encouraging, and with unmatched customer service. LaShae Gordon Strickland – NREUV Assistant Development Manager, What a #Rockstar, I am so proud of her work, she kept us all together, me on track, and just executed flawlessly. Thanks to Ayonna Blue Donald and Keisha M. González – These sisters are consummate professionals and true believers in the mission: supporting communities of color and supporting black female developers – both of which are the most challenging things one can decide to do for their careers. Finally, to the host of lenders and investors who hung there with us for the last two slow and difficult years and the new ones who helped us close the AP and get to the finish line – CREA, LLC, JLL, Citizens Bank, Ohio Housing Finance Agency, Cleveland Development Advisors, WFL Collective, Enterprise Community Loan Fund, Inc., Village Capital Corporation, The George Gund Foundation, and the Cleveland Foundation. On to the next project: MLK Plaza, a four-phase project with affordable housing, a market hall focused on brown and black businesses, and homeownership. Thank you all for the support, please forgive me if I left anyone out, I used so much brain capacity to get this done so if I did leave you off it was completely unintentional. With boundless love. www.ninetyfourten.com
