  • City of Woodstock's Hub Transformation Project has been named a 2024 Project of Excellence by the American Society of Civil Engineers. Assistant to the City Manager Jamie Palmer, Engineering Manager Janis Steinbrenner, Cherokee County Community Development Director Brantley Day, and Matt McDow with project partner Arcadis accepted the award at the ASCE Georgia Section Annual Awards Gala on Friday, June 21. The Hub Transformation Project improved traffic operations in Downtown Woodstock by converting Mill Street to a two-way street, converting the intersection of Mill Street and Towne Lake Parkway to a roundabout, and adding a left turn lane at the intersection of Towne Lake Parkway westbound onto Main Street northbound. These changes allow many vehicles to effectively bypass the heavily congested Main Street at Towne Lake Parkway intersection reducing delays and crash frequency. The project received a loan and grant from the Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank administered by the State Road and Tollway Authority. American Society of Civil Engineers Arcadis

  • The City of Woodstock, Georgia is seeking a Street Maintenance Worker. This full-time position operates a variety of equipment and manual tools in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City streets and storm drainage facilities and systems; performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled work in maintaining roadways, traffic signs and signals, mowing grass in summer and salting roads in winter, and clearing trash and debris.   • The City of Woodstock has received a grant from the Atlanta Regional Commission to conduct a housing capacity and gap analysis. The city hopes to identify the gap between the housing density allowed under current zoning and development regulations and future needs to keep pace with expected population growth. This analysis will also identify potential opportunity sites for infill housing. The $80,000 grant from the ARC Community Development Assistance Program will help to foster greater income diversity so people who work in the community can afford to live there as well reducing the need for long commutes.

At a city council meeting, surrounded by foster families, Mayor Michael Caldwell proclaimed May to be Foster Care Awareness Month and that Woodstock would become GA’s next Foster Friendly City! The business owners, faith leaders, and citizens of Woodstock have been called to action!     👏 Three Georgia Cities receive international recognition with projects that are part of the Partnership for Inclusive Innovation’s Community Research Grant Program. Congratulations to the City of Warner Robins for their Citizen Safety Digital Twin for Community Resilience and the City of Woodstock, Georgia for their Smart Master Plan and Smart Corridor Study were recognized at the @2024 Taipei Smart City Summit and Expo in Taiwan with the Intelligent Community Forum’s Smart21 Community Award. At the same time, Columbus Consolidated Government was named a Smart 20 award winner by Smart Cities Connect for the Digital Twin River Safety Project.
