This week, the U.S. Economic Development Administration has awarded approximately $51 million dollars to the Tulsa Hub for Equitable and Trustworthy Autonomy (THETA) for the purpose of critical technology development projects estimated to bring in over 56,000 high-paying jobs to the Tulsa area. The THETA consortium is led by Tulsa Innovation Labs alongside a diverse steering committee that includes Cherokee Nation Businesses and other Tulsa partners across public and private sectors working to strengthen our region’s position as a global leader in technology innovation. “We're always excited to see a project such as #THETA that improves the regional economy and has the potential to help Cherokee Nation Businesses expand into the autonomous systems and component manufacturing industry, support growing defense and commercial needs and shore up critical supply chains,” said CNB CEO Chuck Garrett. “This project coincides with Cherokee Nation's approach to improve the lives of its citizens and strengthen the regional economy of northeastern Oklahoma.” Learn more about THETA and this historic investment in job creation and economic growth at: https://lnkd.in/gtrwfyTB

#CNBInTheCommunity Last week, Cherokee Nation celebrated the groundbreaking on the new park in Tahlequah named in honor of the late Principal Chief Wilma Mankiller. Revenue from our businesses support the development of the $10 million, nearly 15-acre park, which is tentatively scheduled to open the fall of 2025. “Breaking ground on the Wilma P. Mankiller Capitol Park is a very special occasion for the Cherokee Nation. This project will not only transform unused land into a vibrant community space, but it also pays tribute to a remarkable leader who shaped our tribe’s history as the first woman elected Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation,” Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. said. “Chief Mankiller’s legacy of empowerment, social justice, and community development will live on through this park, inspiring future generations of Cherokees. This investment reflects our commitment to honoring our past while building a brighter future for our citizens.” Learn more about park development in the link below: https://lnkd.in/geGCKGGu

Today, our summer interns attended an executive leadership seminar at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa. The day included special presentations from CNB CEO Chuck Garrett and Senior VP of Government Relations and Cherokee Nation Delegate to Congress Kim Teehee, as well as leadership from Cherokee Nation Entertainment, Cherokee Federal and other businesses. Our interns had the opportunity to learn and ask questions from our leadership first-hand. They left with valuable knowledge and advice for their future career paths and a deeper understanding of how we are all united by #ThePowerOfPurpose. #CNBInterns #MyCNBInternship

This week, our summer interns had the opportunity to explore some of the cultural attractions and facilities that are a part of our cultural and economic development (CED) businesses. They visited several museums and historic sites belonging to our cultural tourism brand Visit Cherokee Nation and toured our meat processing plant 1839 Cherokee Meat Co., along with other CNB properties in the heart of the Cherokee Nation Reservation in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The cultural attractions and businesses of CED reflect our commitment to preserving the culture of our tribe, while also strengthening Cherokee Nation's economy through innovation, diversification and job creation. #ThePowerOfPurpose #MyCNBInternship
