Our sponsors disaffiliated in August 2023.

About us

Since forming as a management company in 1996, AdventHealth and CommonSpirit Health have worked together to meet the needs of communities across Colorado, Kansas and Utah. Together, it was agreed that the companies can best serve our communities without the affiliation of a partnership and directly manage our respective care sites. Effective August 1, 2023, AdventHealth now directly manages its five hospitals and affiliated clinics and CommonSpirit Health now directly manages its 20 hospitals and affiliated clinics. With this transition, the name and logo have been retired.

"I would say health and health care are better where we are. So if you look at some of Leapfrog’s top hospitals, they’re ours. They’re not our competitors. So my view is the quality, safety and service we provide is measurably better than our competitors. And our community deserves that." Peter D. Banko, our division president, sat down with the Colorado Sun for a wide-ranging interview about our past, present and future.

Why did Centura Health’s partners break up? “They just weren’t on the same page,” former CEO says.

Our healthcare apprenticeship programs offer an “earn while you learn” opportunity & invaluable work experience in a clinical role. We currently offer apprenticeship programs for Medical Assistants, Sterile Processing Techs, Pharmacy Techs, Medical Lab Techs and Surgical Techs. By completing our widely recognized programs through on-the-job training and coursework, apprentices become certified in their respective fields and also gain employment with our organization. Pictured is Jaime Pearson, our Talent Partnership Consultant Lead, who is speaking on a panel at the Attainment Network Conference to collaborate with different professionals to raise awareness of the healthcare worker shortage and increase knowledge of our incredible programs! Congratulations to St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood and St. Anthony North Hospital in Westminster! Both hospitals have achieved the prestigious Magnet Recognition for Nursing Excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Less than 6% of U.S. hospitals achieve this designation, and we’re thrilled that St. Anthony and St. Anthony North join our Penrose Hospital and St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs with this incredible distinction! Magnet Recognition is a direct result of our nurses and the outstanding, compassionate, and evidence-based patient care they provide. We have always believed that we employ the very best nurses in the profession. Receiving recognition from ANCC for the quality of our nursing staff reinforces this belief and reaffirms the hard work and dedication of our entire region. #nursing #excellence #magnet #hellohumankindness

This week at Mercy Hospital in Durango we were blessed to distribute more than $500,000 to five nonprofit organizations that serve community members throughout the Four Corners. These Health Equity & Advancement Fund grants, which this year alone total $5 million across our CommonSpirit Health division serving Colorado, Kansas and Utah, are awarded to organizations that share our commitment to meeting the mental health, food security, social justice and health equity needs of the communities we serve. We're honored to stand alongside worthy nonprofit grant recipients Community Compassion Outreach, Southern Colorado Community Action Agency, Inc., The PIC Place , NavajoStrong, and Cancer Support Community Southwest Colorado. We thank them for their continued work, and we're proud to support their programs with these grants. Compassion is having concern for the suffering of others along with a desire to alleviate that suffering. Compassion is one of the hallmarks of being an excellent care provider. Tammy Stewart, a nurse at Longmont United Hospital, is an example of the compassion we value so highly. Tammy called 911 as soon as she heard the car crash on the street behind her home one day last month. She arrived on scene moments later, as did Longmont Public Safety Police Officer Justin Hill. The dramatic rescue of the trapped driver that followed was caught on Officer Hill's dash cam, and it resulted in Tammy and Officer Hill being recognized by the city of Longmont for their heroism. "I was very thankful I heard the accident and called immediately," Tammy recalls. "I was very thankful Officer Hill was only a few blocks away when notified. I was very thankful he was able to free the man before the car was engulfed in flames. I was very thankful he didn’t give up." And we're very thankful for employees and citizens like Tammy who make a positive impact in our communities, both inside and outside the walls of our hospitals and clinics. Read more about the rescue, and see the video footage, at https://lnkd.in/ey9JqV7v.

Our mission as an organization calls us to do work far beyond the walls of our hospitals, clinics and other care sites. By supporting other nonprofits that share our commitment to improving the health of all people, and especially those who are vulnerable, we can make a lasting impact in our communities. On Tuesday we were honored to partner with Russell Wilson & Ciara's Why Not You Foundation to surprise 10 incredible organizations with $100,000 grants - totaling $1 million - to further the work each is doing to lift up others. It was a remarkable celebration and one we were blessed to be part of. "The real hard tasks ahead are finally achieving the consistency and predictability of systemness and scale through a true system- and process-orientation, a unified clinical and physician enterprise, and hyper-competitiveness in each market." Peter D. Banko, our Mountain Division President, will be a guest speaker during April's 14th Annual Meeting of Becker's Healthcare in Chicago. Here, Peter sits down with Becker's to discuss evolving health care executive roles.

For more than a decade, our team at Mercy Hospital in Durango has been working with their peers at Dareda Hospital in rural Tanzania to provide needed resources and education to help improve care for the entire region. A group of Mercy physicians, nurses and leaders recently returned to Dareda for their first medical mission trip since the COVID pandemic. While the primary focus of this recent mission was to complete a needs assessment that will help prioritize future assistance, the Mercy team also was able to provide onsite training to Dareda’s providers. Highlights of the trip included the team’s time within the community – attending a regional “football pitch” (soccer match), hiking a nearby mountain, visiting a salt lake, and attending a couple of tribal dance ceremonies. On behalf of the Mercy Hospital team and all of us across our connected ecosystem of care, we feel blessed to have the opportunity to continue the longstanding relationship with Dareda Hospital and the communities it serves, and to work side by side with providers in this remote area of Tanzania to improve health care and outcomes. #medicalmission #leadership #health
