About us

Bonduelle Fresh Americas is a wholly-owned subsidiary of France-based Groupe Bonduelle (BON.PA). We are one of five business units of the Groupe and a Certified B Corp. We are based in Irwindale, California and operate four processing and distribution facilities in the U.S. that are located in California, New Jersey and Georgia. We also have business offices in Salinas, California and Yuma, Arizona, that support our grower partners. Our nearly 3,000 associates are all working together to inspire the transition to a plant-rich diet to contribute to people’s well-being and planet health. In the U.S. market we produce a range of fresh-cut salads, fresh-cut vegetables, and fresh prepared meals for the retail and food service segments. Our products are available under the Bistro brand where consumers buy groceries, and in meals offered by restaurant chains across the country.

    One of the most popular salads in the world is the famed Caesar Salad. This month marks 100 years since this iconic salad was first served at Restaurante Caesars in Tijuana, Mexico. The origins of the recipe are widely credited to Italian Immigrant Caesar Cardini as discussed in this article from San Diego Tribune. But, if you do a little searching online you'll start to see a fascinating tale emerge - was it Caesar himself who invented it or his brother Alessandro (who claims he made it and called it Aviator's Salad)? Or was it Livio Santini, an employee at Caesar's restaurant, who said it was his mother's recipe? It is a culinary mystery but one thing is for sure - we all owe a debt of thanks to whoever decided to mix Worcestire sauce, olive oil, anchovies, lemon juice, egg yolk and parmesan cheese together as a dressing for Romaine Lettuce.     We are excited to announce that our Summer Intern Class of 2024 has joined us! This year we have 10 Interns who will be taking on roles in our New Jersey, Irwindale and Salinas locations. Through on the job learning these talented interns will gain direct experience in our unique business.     We are honored to share that industry leader Commercial Food Sanitation L.L.C. (CFS) has awarded Bonduelle Fresh Americas, Irwindale, as one of two recipients of their 2023 Gold Star Award. The annual award recognizes production facilities that demonstrated self-managed excellence in sanitation, hygienic design, and environmental pathogen control in the prior year. This is the second consecutive year that Bonduelle Fresh Americas' Irwindale facility has earned the award. Facilities that receive the award achieved expectations and established programs which demonstrate sustainable characteristics.     June 7th is World Food Safety Day - an initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO). The theme this year is  “Prepare for the Unexpected”, which emphasizes the importance of being prepared for all types of food safety incidents, no matter the severity. Food safety is an integral part of our culture at Bonduelle Fresh Americas, and our priority every day. Each of our Associates has a role to play and having a plan in place that identifies each person’s role and responsibility in an unexpected food safety event or crisis, is what ensures the right actions take place and that it is communicated to all affected parties.     Bonduelle Fresh Americas’ Jackson facility was recently awarded a $50,000 grant from Southern Crescent Technical College. Beginning this Fall, our Jackson Associates will have the opportunity to strengthen their manufacturing skills at SCTC's Advanced Manufacturing Lab in Butts County while enhancing their leadership capabilities and soft skills through the College’s continuous education program. The grant is funded through the State of Georgia’s High Demand Career Initiatives (HDCI) Program. The HDCI Program provides funding to Georgia employers to incentivize the creation and expansion of registered apprenticeship programs throughout the state. This program provides upskilling opportunities for workers in local communities and increasing the amount of skilled talent within Georgia’s high-demand industries. Special thanks to Dr. Ada V. Bradley , our Jackson Plant Director, Nathalie Williams our Jackson HR lead, and Eric Zimmerman from our Finance team who worked closely with Irvin T. We are honored to have been able to support exceptional initiatives such as Let's Vegg Up, which embodies both our local and international commitment. Our foundation relies on research to guide our choices and maximize our impact, which strengthens our ability to support innovative projects like this one. As such, we are proud to support the Chaire ANCA, an action research chair dedicated to healthy, sustainable food for all! In 2023, our Let's Vegg Up winners in four countries have been true pioneers in this movement: 🇫🇷 In France La Ferme Urbaine du Trichon reinvents urban living, LA TENTE DES GLANEURS with their solidarity baskets redistributed to a population in great food insecurity or Biscornu, the inclusive, high-end gastronomy house that maximizes employment for young people with disabilities.
