Beats By Birch ▶ 🎶 The clubhouse at Lakewood Country Club has a history as old as our city. When the original three-story clubhouse was built in 1914, Lakewood was truly country, with no paved roads out to the site. Yesterday, we teamed with our friends at th+a | Kirksey to support CitySquare's food pantry which serves as a critical resource for more than 100 people each day. Twenty-five architects, interior designers and construction leaders joined together to stock shelves, deliver groceries and assist customers as they shop for food. "Serving our neighbors in Dallas is so important," said Tyler Berns, Birch Partner. "For more than 30 years, CitySquare has operated as a lifeline for people who struggle with hunger, health, housing and hope - but they need everyone's support right now. Beats By Birch ▶ 🎵 In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, we're introducing a new partner who is changing the conversation around mental health in our community.   Metrocare Services is the largest provider of mental health services and permanent supportive housing in Dallas County. Their team helps people living with mental illness, substance use disorders, developmental disabilities and autism by giving them the tools they need to live healthier lives. With more than 50 service points across North Texas, they serve nearly 3,000 clinical encounters each day - or more than 50,000 individuals each year.   Soon, we will begin work on Metrocare's second largest site in their system - a 33,000 square-foot outpatient clinic located at Lancaster-Kiest. We'll work directly with the Metrocare team, through a design-assist process, to expand their facility so they can provide more services to more people in need living in South Dallas. From demo to DOAS units, the new north Texas laboratory for Fulgent Genetics is one step closer to completion.   During phase one of this renovation project, we partnered with McMillan James Equipment Company to secure eight Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS) HVAC units. We then turned to DynaTen Corporation to hoist and install them on the roof of Fulgent’s new genetics laboratory in Coppell. Each unit, specially designed for high-risk environments, brings in outside air to filter and condition it to prevent contamination.   We exist to help people, help people. On track for completion this summer, this 96,000 square-foot state-of-the-art, high complexity clinical lab will help further develop new testing options for a broad range of cancers, infectious and rare diseases and support reproductive health.   LPA, Inc. At the start of every May, we take time to get away to celebrate the hard work and contributions of our project teams.   This year, we landed at Lake Texoma where we found good food, good drinks and plenty of good tunes. A few fish even found their way onto our hooks. “It was great to see everyone taking it easy,” said Mark Kennedy, senior superintendent for Birch. "We laughed a lot and, of course, it's so cool to get to know everyone away from the job site. We look forward to it every year.”   In addition to the fun, we introduced new superintendents and assistant superintendents to the Birch culture that we're building together. We help people, help people. Dr. Beau Ellenbecker said the idea for opening his own practice came to him in 2010, while serving as a squadron surgeon and primary care physician for the US Army in Afghanistan. After returning home, Baylor offered him an opportunity to start his own clinic. Dr. Ellenbecker chose Roanoke because he sees an opportunity to help people right away. To support him, Birch recently began work on a 10,500 square-foot facility that will incorporate 28 exam rooms and support 10 primary care providers. The clinic in on track to open this fall. As Roanoke continues to grow, he hopes to expand into specialty care, such as cardiology and mental health services in the future. “I think this is the first step to us continuing to be a health care provider for this community for a really long time," Ellenbecker said.
