Overall, investing can be a powerful tool for women to achieve financial security, independence, and to have a say in the world around them. Our mission is to empower and educate young women on the importance and benefits of investing. Currently, the world of investing can be seen as a bit of a “boy’s club”, and still remains a mainly male-focused industry, making young female investors less likely to invest and break into the field of finance.  We aim to provide a supportive and inclusive community where members can learn about different investment strategies and opportunities, share their knowledge and experiences, and make informed financial decisions. With the robust Barnard alumni network, the aim is to bring Barnard alumni in to talk to students about investing careers, host mock-stock presentations, and facilitate informal networking and mentoring. We also aim to educate the Barnard community about personal finance, which is something that isn’t focused on prior to entering college, and is a constant source of worry for several young women on Barnard’s campus. One of our highlight events last semester was with Bank of America. Our recent event featured a unique panel comprising both current students who interned at the bank and alumni now working there. They shared invaluable insights about their recruitment experiences and life at Bank of America, answering a wide array of questions from our eager audience. The candid discussions provided a real-world perspective on the banking industry and career progression within such a prestigious institution. The second part of the event was an intimate lunch, fostering casual conversations and deeper connections. This informal setting allowed for personal interactions, making the insights even more impactful. A heartfelt thank you to Bank of America and all the panelists for such a memorable and enlightening experience. It was not just an event; it was a significant step forward for many of us considering a career in finance. Last semester, we had the absolute privilege of hosting an informative session with Corwin Conner from PIMCO, a global leader in investment management. The event was a deep dive into the world of finance, with PIMCO job openings, the firm's ethos, and the dynamic landscape of investment management. Students had the unique opportunity to ask questions directly, gaining valuable insights into various career pathways in finance. The candid responses and advice from the PIMCO team were incredibly enlightening.
