Overall, investing can be a powerful tool for women to achieve financial security, independence, and to have a say in the world around them. Our mission is to empower and educate young women on the importance and benefits of investing. Currently, the world of investing can be seen as a bit of a “boy’s club”, and still remains a mainly male-focused industry, making young female investors less likely to invest and break into the field of finance. We aim to provide a supportive and inclusive community where members can learn about different investment strategies and opportunities, share their knowledge and experiences, and make informed financial decisions. With the robust Barnard alumni network, the aim is to bring Barnard alumni in to talk to students about investing careers, host mock-stock presentations, and facilitate informal networking and mentoring. We also aim to educate the Barnard community about personal finance, which is something that isn’t focused on prior to entering college, and is a constant source of worry for several young women on Barnard’s campus.
