Summer at The Little Nell means the return of traditions like our Ride + Dine Series, biking from the hotel to a scenic destination for an al fresco dinner with a featured winery each time, acoustic music, and a shuttle ride back to Aspen. In summers past, we've ridden to various ranches in the valley. This summer, we've partnered with Aspen Center For Environmental Studies to dine at Rock Bottom Ranch in Basalt and at their soon-to-be completed Catto Center at Toklat in the Ashcroft Valley. Today is the last day of Teacher Appreciation Week, and we want to take a moment to show gratitude for our incredible team of ACES Educators. ACES' important work would be impossible without these bright, motivated, and engaging folks who nurture students' curiosity and inspire youth to connect with the natural world. Not only does this team work tirelessly to provide the best possible in-school environmental education curriculum, but they also teach field programs for students from Aspen to Rifle. "There is so much value in learning outside, and allowing students to see, firsthand, the phenomena we are teaching in the classroom. It fosters a much deeper understanding and connection to the curriculum," said Educator Kate Huun. "I can see my students' minds light up when they see something we've learned about in the classroom out on a field program. It is SO important to make those connections." The connections our educators forge between themselves, our youth, school districts, and the greater Roaring Fork community is integral to the success of our organization and cultivating the next generation of environmental stewards. Thank you, ACES Education team, for all that you do!

The 5 Gyres Institute relies on science and data to confront the global challenge of plastic pollution head-on. Co-founders Anna Cummins and Marcus Eriksen lead the charge in raising awareness and advocating for policy change with the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee at the United Nations.
