After half a century of waiting, the Biden Administration has finally acknowledged what medical professionals and advocates have long known: cannabis has accepted medical value in the treatment of various conditions. This recommendation to reschedule cannabis from Schedule I to Schedule III marks a monumental victory for patients, achieved through years of advocacy and tireless effort. But our work is far from over. While this decision validates the experiences of patients, it does not automatically restore our rights or ensure access to safe, affordable, and consistent cannabis therapeutics. That's where our collective action becomes crucial. Congressional action is now essential to translate this rescheduling recommendation into tangible benefits for patients. We have the opportunity to shape the future of medical cannabis policy in the United States, and we must seize it.
