July is National Bereaved Parents Awareness Month, a time to shine a light on the challenges and enduring love of parents who have lost a child. Our Bereavement Services Manager, Karrie Filios, suggests a documentary that explores the grief that bereaved parents face. In “A Love that Never Dies,” the filmmakers, Jimmy Edmonds and Jane Harris, discuss their son, Josh, who died while traveling in Vietnam. The documentary captures Jimmy and Jane’s three-month trip across countries to speak with other bereaved parents and family members about their experiences. You can watch the documentary and its trailer on the Good Grief Project site at https://lnkd.in/gH3r_52j. #BereavedParentsAwarenessMonth #BereavementAwareness #BereavedParents #ALoveThatNeverDies #AgapeHealthcare #HospiceCare #PalliativeCare #AgapeLove #Hospice #Colorado #ColoradoHealthcare #ColoradoHospice #PatientCare

Ä-‘gä-pā means unconditional love. We provide expert, compassionate care with agape for every patient, every time.
About us
We are agape. We are Agape Healthcare. The word “agape” (Ä-‘gä-pā) comes from Greek, meaning unconditional love. We strive to provide expert, compassionate care filled with agape for every patient, every time. Throughout each season of life, everyone deserves to be treated with respect, dignity, and kindness. As we navigate palliative and hospice care, we believe that healthcare should exemplify agape, because our patients are at their most vulnerable state. No one should live in pain, fear, or worry. Every member of Agape Healthcare is committed to providing the highest quality, compassionate care for patients along the Denver Front Range. Our beliefs are simple: A serious illness should not prevent people from living a full and comfortable life. Our expert medical team works with you, your family, and your physicians to customize a care plan that manages your pain and symptoms to improve the quality of your life. We believe people are most at ease in familiar surroundings, so we come to you wherever you call home, whether it is your house or a facility. With AGAPE, more feel-good days are possible.

June is Pride Month. Despite the advances in human rights, the LGBTQ+ community still faces barriers to healthcare, especially at the end of life when patients require sensitive and personalized care. Through education and inclusive practices, hospice providers can help all patients feel safe, comfortable, and respected during their healthcare journey. For more information about end-of-life care in the LGBTQ+ community, check out the resources linked in the comments. #PrideInAging #LGBTQ #HealthEquity #AgapeLove #Hospice #Colorado #PatientCare #Pride

Age can affect how PTSD presents in older adults. Symptoms such as disorganization, agitation, and memory loss are also part of aging, which can make PTSD challenging to spot and even treat. Grief Support Needs of LGBTQ+ Chosen Families: A study is being conducted by Yeshiva University to improve psychosocial support services for chosen family members who have lost an LGBTQ+ loved one due to a life-limiting medical illness. Findings from this study will be used to inform recommendations for inclusive and affirming end-of-life care and bereavement services. Have you recently lost a chosen family member? For bereaved chosen family members who would like to contribute to our understanding of kinship, caregiving, and bereavement, this is a way to make a difference.
