As content I put some standards to help me ensure that it's engaging and attractive: Relevance: Ensure content is relevant to the learners’ needs and goals. Clarity: Present information clearly and concisely. Accuracy: Provide accurate and up-to-date information. Interactivity: Include interactive elements to engage learners actively. Variety: Use a mix of text, images, videos, and quizzes to cater to different learning styles. Real-World Application: Incorporate real-world examples and case studies to make the content relatable.

When planning content for digital learning, it is beneficial to ask yourself two questions: • What content do I need? • What content am I able to create? The content you develop should coincide with a clearly defined goal of the course and the needs of the target audience. Your content needs to guide students to a set destination. The format of the chosen content needs to be engaging, easily accessible, and, above all, manageable for you as a material creator. Digital learning offers advantages over traditional learning. Just keep in mind that you need to be familiar with the tools you use. It is better to know how to use a limited number of websites and applications, over fumbling while learning to use a vast number of tools.

Content must not only be presented clearly but also accurately. Confirm content accuracy with at least 2 SMEs if possible, and thorough but efficient (timely) reviews when nearing publication.

Use AI chatbots as part of test-enhanced learning (the testing effect). Break up instructional delivery with frequent opportunities for questioning learners about what they know. Don't use assessments only for summative scoring; rather use open-ended essay type questions, where learners must compose their answers using their own words. AI bots can be prompted to take on the role of an expert in a topic, and then respond to free-form written text from a learner in response to a question. The AI bots can even hone in on specific aspects of an answer that is perhaps weak or not clearly explained. This allows fantastic opportunities for retrieval practice at scale, personalized to each learner, and in real time.

Let the learner choose! The user should be able to make some decisions around the learning experience. Maybe they can choose the order of completion of the activities, or we can give them different options for assignments or evaluations. They can also set their learning goal and focus on that during the course. Give the learners some control over their learning experience, and their engagement will be higher because they will feel more responsible. They should be able to own their learning journey.

Use simulations and educational digital learning experience by incorporating interactive elements. Use simulations, quizzes and gamified activities to make learning active and fun. Integrate discussions forums and live QA sessions to foster collaboration and peer learning. Include interactive videos and clickable content to enhance engagement.

It helps to give learners exercises to try in their own scenarios. For example, a lesson on a new software, give practice scripts to execute in their own training environment so thet can reinforce the keystrokes and their outcomes for themselves, building confidence with familiarity.

Keeping things appealing can be tricky. Using graphic design principles surrounding layout, typeface and font, and color theory can help design a course where learners are not distracted by poor placement, color, or text character shapes and can therefore focus on the learning objectives.

One of my favourite learning/teaching approach is by far social learning but it can be challenging to sustain over time, and keeping the initiatives vibrant and engaging can be difficult. Moreover costumers can be hesitant to deploy that type of pedagogical device. This type of approach is particularly compatible with implementing informal learning methods. Establishing communities of practice or interest is especially effective in environments where the sharing of experience and knowledge is sought after (such as healthcare, technical fields, etc.), as seen with patient websites or LinkedIn.
