CREATING A
NEW HAVEN
FOR OUR CHILDREN

Leadership
Education &
Athletics in
Partnership

We teach children how to learn and young adults how to lead.

Leadership, Education and Athletics in Partnership, Inc. (LEAP) was founded in 1992 by educators, students, and community activists to address the historic disinvestment in young people of color in our city. In our two community centers and seven neighborhood-based sites, we provide children with a welcoming place to learn, explore and grow, while offering teens and young adults a platform to find their voice and become leaders and role models. College and high school student counselors teach younger students in literacy, the arts, and athletics.

LEAP is one of four CT Nonprofits to Receive the $2 million Open Call Yield Giving Award!

LEAP is incredibly grateful to have been chosen by MacKenzie Scott and her organization, Yield Giving, to receive one of her latest philanthropic gifts. 361 community-led non-profits were selected from over 6,000 applicants for their exceptional work in promoting the voices and opportunities of underprivileged individuals, families, and groups facing systemic obstacles and discrimination. LEAP ranked among the highest scorers of all applicants, receiving an award from Yield Giving of $2 million. This gift will be used to advance our mission of empowering and guiding the next generation of New Haven youth toward a brighter future.
