Regulation Changes in 2024

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) will continue to keep all licensed family child care homes, child care centers and preschool facilities informed as we move toward an effective date on all proposed regulations. Watch this section for the latest updates and resources.

Mandated Re-Fingerprinting

Both Federal and State law (KSA 65-516) requires a comprehensive background check for each individual residing, working, or regularly volunteering in a licensed child care facility. Fingerprint-based checks must be completed every five years, and 2024 is the year to renew. Learn more in the Five Year Fingerprinting Letter to Providers (PDF).
