Samantha is about to turn 13, and all she wants for her birthday is a forever home. Right now, she’s living in foster care.

Samantha is an active, friendly girl, but she’s been through a lot.

“Samantha does have a developmental delay, so at school she has certain accommodations,” said Cory Edmonds, a Child Protective Services worker who works with Samantha.

At home, Samantha’s just a regular kid.

“I like to get my hands messy,” said Samantha. Her favorite food? “Pineapple pizza—but sometimes I just eat the pineapples.”

Samantha likes yoga and running, too. “I get tired right away because I run too fast,” she said with a laugh.

“She can be a little firecracker, like we all can,” said Edmonds. “But for the most part, she just really enjoys life.”

“She enjoys going outside, eating, playing games,” Edmonds said. “She just enjoys real fellowship and attention, and she loves to give hugs--she’s a hugger.”

Samantha stays positive, even through life's stumbles, but she could use a hand to hold through the tough times.

“I can't wait to go with a family,” said Samantha.

“Then we could go to any outings we want,” Samantha said. “Go to Pizza Hut. Go to Golden Corral.”

And if she got to go with the forever family, Samantha said with a smile, “I'm never acting up again.”

There is no cost to adopt a child out of Texas foster care. Plus, the child will receive free college tuition to an in-state college. If you are interested in adopting Samantha or any of our other Wednesday’s Children, call Voices for Children at (979) 822-9700.
