HEAT ADVISORIES in effect for majority of the Brazos Valley until Wednesday Evening | Beryl has moved out of the area, however the aftereffects are still very much here with millions across Southeast Texas still without access to proper cooling. With summer-like temperatures quickly returning and tropical moisture still present, heat index readings as high as 106° are predicted; as a result, parts of the Brazos Valley have been placed under a heat advisory. Typically to have a heat advisories issued, the heat index has to reach a value of 108°, so why have they been issued? The National Weather Service notes the lack of access to proper cooling and AC pose an increased risk in heat related illnesses and thus the reason for caution. While we are switching gears quickly from tropical storm preparedness to heat safety, make sure you are taking care of you and yours as we head to the rest of the week.
