A boy on the brink of manhood has been going it alone.

Haiden lives in foster care right now, hoping to be adopted.

But on this day, Haiden, 13, is enjoying a day with a personal sports trainer at D1 Training.

"I'm going to make you sweat today," said Haiden's trainer. "Hope you like that."

Haiden isn't afraid of hard work, whether in the gym or in the classroom.

"I just like math," said Haiden, a rising eighth-grade student. "I just like adding up numbers...because there's always a right answer."

Haiden likes the rest of his classes too.

"I like to read fiction--sometimes non-fiction," said Haiden. "I like mysteries."

After school, Haiden is a team player. He describes his ultimate friend.

"Someone I can play with, like video games and stuff," said Haiden. "I just like if I have stuff in common with them. "

Haiden is living in foster care right now, and he's growing tired of passing between homes. He's looking for his forever family.

"It [would feel] happy. I just want a family that lives in the forest, in a little cottage or something."

Yes, the boy who loves to go, go, go, knows even he needs a time-out.

"Maybe we could watch a movie on TV and sit on the couch," said Haiden. "It would feel nice."

Nice to rest and recover with a team all his own.

"Because it's peaceful," said Haiden.

There is no cost to adopt a child out of the Texas foster care system. Also, that child will receive free in-state college tuition when the time comes.
