"So guess that means that you're not afraid of heights then," the rock climbing instructor asked Ashton.

"Used to," Ashton said. "But now I'm not."

Always looking up: that's how 11-year-old Ashton lives life.

He's a fifth grader who's reaching for more. More knowledge:

"Science, math, reading, social studies," Ashton said of his favorite subjects in school.

More freedom:

"More privileges," said Ashton of what he's looking forward to about middle school.

More creativity:

"I just draw for fun," Ashton said on what he likes to do after school.

And more family:

"Hang out with my sisters and brothers," said Ashton when asked about why he wants to find a forever family.

Because sometimes a kid needs a little help to keep going.

Ashton's searching for a family to share the highs and lows of his day every day. A family to help him get where he's going--a soft place to land.

"Because I can go home with my real family," Ashton said, "with my brothers and sisters."
