March 12 - American Henry Wittenberg (pictured), who went undefeated for more than 300 wrestling matches and won a gold medal at the 1948 London Olympics, has died at the age of 91.
January 25 - Sushil Kumar (pictured), India's Olympic wrestling bronze medallist, has hit out at the Government after again being overlooked for for the Padma Shri, an award given to honour outstanding achievements by the country's top sportsmen and women.

January 15 - An investigation has been opened and closed following allegations made in a South Korean court last week that judges officiating in the wrestling at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing were bribed, Raphaël Martinetti (pictured), President of the world governing body FILA, has told insidethegames.

September 17 - Olympic bronze medallist Sushil Kumar (pictured) will spearhead India's challenge in the World Wrestling Championship to be held in Herning, Denmark, from September 21 to 27.
5th June - A gold medal at the London Olympics will be worth $250,000 (£178,775) for United States wrestlers under a new scheme announced scheme established to keep the top competitors in the sport.
