A new-look International Weightlifting Federation Executive Board met for the first time in Lausanne in July 2022.
The Board is committed to working towards securing weightlifting's Olympic status, promoting clean sport and supporting good governance.

Mohammed Jaloud - President
Mohammed Jaloud of Iraq was elected as President of the International Weightlifting Federation on June 22.
Before that he spent five years as general secretary of the IWF.
He has huge experience in the sport, including as a weightlifter for 13 years.
Jaloud has worked within the administration of the sport for more than 30 years.
Antonio Urso - General Secretary/Treasurer
Antonio Urso was elected as general secretary of the International Weightlifting Federation in June 2022.
He has served as President of the European Weightlifting Federation, as well as head of the Italian Weightlifting Federation.
As an athlete, Urso is a 12-time Italian champion.
He can date his involvement in weightlifting back to 1975.
Ursula Papandrea - First Vice-President
Ursula Papandrea - First Vice-President
Ursula Papandrea of the United States is the first vice president of the International Weightlifting Federation.
She has previously worked as President of USA Weightlifting, while she is a two-time national champion.
Papandrea became the first woman to gain USA Weightlifting's highest coaching level and she has also worked as chair of the IWF's Women's Commission.
Attila Ádámfi - Vice-President
Attila Ádámfi of Hungary is a vice-president of the International Weightlifting Federation.
He previously served as director general for six years.
Other roles include Sport Commission member, competition director and assistant to the President.
Ádámfi is also involved in sports governance for bandy.
Doris Marrero - Vice-President
Venezuela's Doris Marrero is one of the International Weightlifting Federation's vice-presidents.
She has been involved with weightlifting for more than three decades.
Roles include being an IWF technical official and alternate President of the Venezuela Weightlifting Federation.
Petr Krol - Vice-President
Petr Krol of the Czech Republic is an International Weightlifting Federation vice-president.
He has served as President of his national federation, as well as an international technical official for the IWF.
Krol has also worked as a member of the Czech Olympic Committee.
Pyrros Dimas - Vice-President
Greece's Pyrros Dimas is one of the greatest weightlifters of all time, having won three Olympic gold medals.
In sports governance, he has served as President of his national federation and as performance director of USA Weightlifting.
Dimas is now a vice-president of the International Weightlifting Federation.
Mohamed Yousef Al Mana - Asian Weightlifting Federation President
Qatari Mohamed Yousef Al Mana is the President of the Asian Weightlifting Federation.
He has served as President of the Qatar Weightlifting Federation.
His other roles include first vice-president of the Qatar Olympic Committee.
Antonio Conflitti - European Weightlifting Federation President
Antonio Conflitti of Moldova is the European Weightlifting Federation President.
He has a law degree and has worked as President of the Moldovan Federation.
Conflitti has been a sports club President in Italy.
Marcus Stephen - Oceania Weightlifting Federation President
Nauru's Marcus Stephen is President of the Oceania Weightlifting Federation.
An acclaimed weightlifter, Stephen won seven gold medals at the Commonwealth Games.
He is a former President of Nauru.
Jose Carlos Quinones - Pan American Weightlifting Federation President
Jose Carlos Quinones, from Peru, is the Pan American Weightlifting Federation President.
He has also worked as President of the Peruvian Olympic Committee.
Quinones has been vice-president and chairman of the IWF's Development and Education Commission.
Khaled Mehalhel - Weightlifting Federation of Africa President
Khaled Mehalhel, from Libya, is the President of the Weightlifting Federation of Africa.
He is a Lifetime Honorary President of his national federation, and has also served as a Board member of the Libyan Olympic Committee.
Mehalhel has also worked for the Arabic Weightlifting Federation.
Fathi Masmoudi
Tunisia's Fathi Masmoudi previously sat on the IWF Executive Board for four years between 2013 and 2017.
He has worked as an athlete, coach, administrator and technical official.
Masmoudi is a doctor.
Florian Sperl
Germany's Florian Sperl has served as President of his national weightlifting federation.
As an athlete, he competed at national level, while he has worked with the country's NOC.
Sperl is qualified as a civil engineer.
Gardencia Du Plooy
Gardencia Du Plooy from South Africa has been involved in weightlifting for more than three decades.
She is a member of her national federation and the Western Cape Weightlifting Association.
Du Plooy has also worked as a technical official and has been involved in clubs and schools weightlifting.
Hiromi Miyake
Hiromi Miyake is a double Olympic weightlifting medallist from Japan.
She won silver at London 2012 and then a bronze at Rio 2016.
Miyake has been a member of the IWF Athlete Committee, as well as national women's coach.
She is a five-time Olympian in all.
Matthew Curtain
Matthew Curtain has been involved with weightlifting for more than 35 years.
He has served as the chair of the IWF's Sports Commission and as a member of the IWF's Sport Programme Commission.
Other roles include chief executive and general secretary of British Weight Lifting.
Curtain was the weightlifting manager at the London 2012 Olympic Games, and the 2006 and 2014 Commonwealth Games.
As an athlete he was Oceania and Australian champion and a national record holder.
Mohammed Ahmed Alharbi
Saudi Arabia's Mohammed Ahmed Alharbi has served as President of the Saudi Weightlifting Federation.
He has been involved with the International Weightlifting Federation for nearly 40 years, and has been a member of the Coaching and Research Committee.
Other roles include first vice-president of the Arab Weightlifting Federation.
Sam Coffa
Australian weightlifter Sam Coffa has held roles with the International Weightlifting Federation including first vice-president, vice-president and Executive Board member.
He has been involved in weightlifting for more than 60 years, including as President of his national federation.
An Olympian, Coffa lifted at the Tokyo 1964 Games.
He served as technical delegate for weightlifting at Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.
Tom Liaw
Singaporean Tom Liaw has been a member of the International Weightlifting Federation's Education and Development Commission.
He has been President of his national federation with his involvement in the sport stretching over two decades.
As an athlete, Liaw competed at the Commonwealth Championships.
Wen Hsin Chang
Wen Hsin Chang has served on the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee's Executive Board.
Other roles include executive director of the Republic of China Sports Federation.
Yassiny Esquivel
Yassiny Esquivel is an International Weightlifting Federation Executive Board member from Costa Rica.
Forrester Christopher Osei
Forrester Christopher Osei from Ghana has served as chairman of the International Weightlifting Federation's Athletes' Commission.
He has also been an Athlete Commission member within his home federation.
As a weightlifter, Osei competed at the African Games and Commonwealth Championships.
Boukar Tikire
Boukar Tikire is an appointed member of the International Weightlifting Federation's Executive Board.
He is President of the Cameroon Weightlifting Federation.
Hidilyn Diaz
Hidilyn Diaz is an athlete member of the Executive Board, taking her seat as a member of the IWF Athletes' Commission.
She won Olympic gold for The Philippines at the Tokyo 2020 Games, in the women's under-55 kilograms division.
Diaz also won World Championship gold in Bogota in 2022 and an Olympic silver medal in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
She is the first ever Filipino athlete to win an Olympic gold medal.
Luisa Peters
Luisa Peters of the Cook Islands is an athlete member of the Executive Board.
She lifted at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympics and at three editions of the Commonwealth Games.
Peters is also a national coach and a vice-president of the Cook Islands and Oceania Weightlifting Federations.
She sits on the IWF Athletes' Commission and has medalled at the Pacific Games.
Maria Jose Alcala
Maria Jose Alcala is an appointed member of the Executive Board.
In 2021, she became the first female President in the history of the Mexican Olympic Committee.
Alcala is a former diver who competed at four editions of the Olympics.
