Guadalajara celebrated the one-year-to-go mark for the 2023 Gay Games with a kickoff event at the Astros de Guadalajara Arena with celebrities attending a festival for the opening of registration.
Among them was famous Mexican drag queen Ricky Lips and Madison Basrey, named Miss Trans Star México for 2022.
Dance and theatre groups Circo Dragon and CinemaCanta entertained the crowd, as did Valentina, best known for her time on the show RuPaul's Drag Race.
An official call for athletes was made to register for the Games - set to take place in both Guadalajara and Hong Kong from November 3 to 11 2023.

La Mas Draga contestants Varo and Cpher performed at the closing of the ceremony, followed by DJ sets from Mistery Affair and Ninja.
The Federation of Gay Games awarded the 11th edition to Hong Kong, but this was later extended to include the Mexican city due to issues related to COVID-19 in the Chinese territory.
The Games were set to take place in 2022, but were moved back because of the pandemic too.
Valencia in Spain is scheduled to hold the 2026 edition.
