Goodnight!
22:30 See you at 09:00 tomorrow for all the best sport, news and gossip from day four.
22:29 But with plenty more to come tomorrow, including rugby sevens finals and both marathon races in athletics, we are going to leave you with a final photo of Mr and Mrs Judo, Scotland's gold medal winner Euan Burton and England's runner-up Gemma Gibbons.
![Gemma Gibbons and Euan Burton following their medal winning exploits today ©Twitter](https://cdn.statically.io/img/www.insidethegames.biz/images/2014/07/Glasgow_2014_blog_images/Gemma_Gibbons_and_Euan_Burton_following_their_medal_winning_exploits_today.jpg)
For more photos, check out our latest picture gallery of day three!
22:28 A lot was happening away from the sporting action today as well: that mad press conference with Usain Bolt that at times resembled more of a media love in than a press grilling.
We also had "Clyde-gate" as Glasgow 2014, with a little help from insidethegames, rectifying the problems with scanning QR codes in its mascot trail.
And we are also quite proud we managed to link in both Billy Ocean and Benny Hill to proceedings on the blog today. Where else would you see that?
22:25 We are going to finish now for the evening, after another day in which Australia overhauled England at the top of the medals table, just.
Some more great sporting action today, with Australians particularly shining in the pool and Veldodrome. More success for Scotland in judo and England in triathlon, but good to see some other nation's succeeding with two Welsh victories today amid gongs for Cyprus, Malaysia and South Africa. And a first medal for the Isle of Man.
Siblings yesterday, married couples today

For reigning Olympic and world champion Chad le Clos it was business as usual as he retained his 200m butterfly crown.Another day another gold as they will probably be saying in Australian swimming circles as green and gold emerge here from the Tollcross International Swimming Centre with another batch of Commonwealth titles. While no world records were broken, four Games records were set including the two for Australia in the form of its women's 4x200m freestyle team and Emily Seebohm who retained her 100m backstroke crown. Meanwhile England's two gold medals also came via record times as Francesca Halsall won her second Commonwealth Games gold in the 50m freestyle to sit only second to the great Karen Pickering in terms of English swimming success at the Games while Adam Peaty powered to an impressive win in the 100m breaststroke. For reigning Olympic and world champion Chad le Clos it was business as usual as he retained his 200m butterfly crown.

Win for Willstrop in squash
![James Willstrop en route to a simple squash quarter-final win](https://cdn.statically.io/img/www.insidethegames.biz/images/2014/07/Glasgow_2014_blog_images/James_Willstrop_en_route_to_a_simple_squash_quarter-final_win.jpg)
22:23 Over in the squash, James Willstrop of England is through to the semi-finals after easing past Ivan Yuen of Malaysia, 11-1 11-7, 11-3. Better fortunes for Malaysia in table tennis though as their women qualified to face hot favourites Singapore in the gold medal match tomorrow. Singapore won the 2010 world team title over China, and that is quite something in table tennis, so they will take some beating.
Australia will face India for bronze while, in the men's event we are a round behind. It's England v India and Singapore v Nigeria in the two semi-finals tomorrow.
22:20 South Africa are 15-0 up against Kenya in the final rugby sevens match of the day. They are heading for a quarter-final against Scotland. England will face Samoa, Wales will have the daunting prospect of taking on New Zealand in two of the other last eight contests, while Australia's reward for edging England is set to be a match against the Kenyans.
England versus Samoa is probably the pick of those four matches.
22:14 Medals action for the day is now complete, but we will take you "around the grounds" for a final day before wrapping up for the day.
Great to see the badminton, as well as the cycling, so well attended at the Emirates Arena today, as this picture of crowds flocking in proves...
![Crowds flock to the watch the badminton and cycling action on day three ©Getty Images](https://cdn.statically.io/img/www.insidethegames.biz/images/2014/07/Glasgow_2014_blog_images/Crowds_flock_to_the_watch_the_badminton_and_cycling_action_on_day_three.jpg)
Australia beat England in rugby sevens
22:08 Sean McMahon, Jesse Parahi and Cameron Clark scored the three Australian tries as they eeked out a win in a high quality encounter. England had led 7-5 at half-time but conceded 10 unanswered points after the break.
22:06 Australia are leading 15-7 in the second half, so it's looking like déjà vu
in the second "Ashes" clash of the day.
22:02 It's been a long and thrilling day for the Ibrox crowd, with the last match seeing a superb 19-12 win for Samoa over Wales. Samoa have a strong sevens team and, along with maybe South Africa and the two teams currently playing, are the only ones who could realistically challenge New Zealand tomorrow.
21:56 The most anticipated match of the day is getting underway in the rugby sevens. England versus Australia.
The Aussies beat the English in a netball thriller to open proceedings on day three, so can the English close the night with revenge? England have enjoyed 57-0 and 40-0 victories over Sri Lanka and Uganda respectively so far, so are looking good.

Wilkie is a former world champion in the discipline while he is a former Olympic, Comonwealth and European champion in the 200m. So he knows a thing or two about the art of breaststroking.
He gets a fantastic reception from the crowd here and I suspect deep down he was secretly hoping to be planting the gold medal around Ross Murdoch's neck rather than Adam Peaty. Instead Murdoch makes do with bronze."
- Reporter Gary Anderson poolside at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre.
21:45 That results means another shift at the top of the medal table as Australia move back ahead of England.

Emma McKeon, Alicia Coutts, Brittany Elmslie and Bronte Barratt win the last gold medal of the night and another for the Aussies, this time in the women's 4X200m freestyle.
The result is also another Games record as they finished in 7:49:90 ahead of Canada and England.

The 24-year-old Malaysian had finished third in New Delhi four years ago.
Victory means more than just gold for Mansor, however. It had been made clear to him before travelling here that anything other than a gold medal would mean financial support he receives to work with his coach Lukman Lukman in Indonesia would be cut.
He has criticised the lack of quality coaches in Malaysia in the past and began working with Indonesian coach Lukman in February 2014.
He admitted before the competition that the pressure was tough but a great motivator.
21:22 There was joy for the Ugandan team in their rugby sevens encounter with Sri Lanka at the Ibrox this evening as they came from 14-0 down to win 17-14.
The team piled into the crowd on the final whistle as sheer excitement streamed throughout the Stadium.
21:20 Well that didn't last long. England back on top of the medals table courtesy of Adam Peaty.

20:49 The final medal table in the judo sees England top with six golds, four silver and three bronze; Scotland in second with six gold, two silver and five bronze; and South Africa in third with one gold, one silver and two bronze.
That's despite England failing to pick up a gold medal in the SECC this evening; an evening that saw Scotland claim three, South African claim one and Wales claim one.
20:45 It's all over at Ibrox Park and Barbados kept the final score against New Zealand to 59-0, which is lot less than many people were predicting.

- Reporter Gary Anderson awaits more action in the pool.
20:38 We're into the second-half at Ibrox and the All Blacks are now 52-0 up against Barbados.
20:32 All the action is over in the judo but no one's going any where. We've still got one medal ceremony to go and it's to celebrate yet another Scottish gold.
The hosts have won three of five gold medals on off inside the SECC this evening with Wales and South Africa taking the other two.
20:28 Barbados - Billy Ocean's son and all - are currently taking on the All Blacks in the rugby sevens at Ibrox Park...
After about five minutes it's already 26-0 to the New Zealanders.

18:02 And here at the judo we're just underway with the first bronze medal match of the under 90kg category where Australia's Mark Anthony has the tough task of facing local boy Andrew Burns.
Electric atmosphere inside the SECC with the crowds no doubt hoping for more home nation medal success in the judo.
18:00 Back to cycling and we're into the 1km time trial now in the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome. Great atmosphere still, with the only problem, for the journalists at least, being a few internet problems. The crowd are still celebrating that tandem victory earlier for Neil Fachie.
Scotland going judoka crazy for Renicks sisters
17:50 While Paul Osborne is just hot-footing to the last night of the judo where Scottish-English husband and wife team Euan Burton and Gemma Gibbons will both be hoping to emerge victorious Kimberley and Louise Renicks, both winners of gold medals on the first day of the Games, were joined by silver medal winner Stephanie Inglis and bronze medallist Connie Ramsay to sign autographs at the Glasgow 2014 Superstore in George Square. As you can see, they got quite a reaction.
"I'm so overwhelmed and excited and have never seen Glasgow like this - everyone is so happy and proud for us," said Kimberley Renicks. Big sister Louise added: "It's just been unbelievable we have never had so much attention. It's not sunk in really as I haven't shown my mum and dad my medal yet."
Hannah McMillan, 13, from Glasgow, who met the champions said: "It was wonderful to watch the sisters win on the TV and now I have met them and held their medal. It's truly fantastic."

- Tim Hollingsworth, chief executive of the British Paralympic Association, calling for more Para-sport events at the Commonwealth Games.
17:20 The women's 58kg weightlifting contest is still ongoing in the Hydro with England's Zoe smith currently leading Ndidi Winifred of Nigeria and Michaela Breeze of Wales after a Commonwealth Games record total of 210kg across both the the snatch and the clean and jerk.
Breeze's 93kg in the snatch is also a Commonwealth Games record.
17:05 An interesting stat on the bowls finals from earlier today for you next...
Bruce Jones, 75, who won bronze alongside fellow Aussie Joy Forster in the B2/B3 mixed pairs competition, became the first athlete over 70 to win a Commonwealth Games medal since Manchester 2002, when Ruth Small of England won gold in visually impaired lawn bowls women's singles aged 70.

Calm before the storm
![Calm before the storm at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre ©Twitter](https://cdn.statically.io/img/www.insidethegames.biz/images/2014/07/Glasgow_2014_blog_images/Calm_before_the_storm.jpg)
16:55 There's a calm before the storm in the Tollcross International Swimming Centre as we get ready for tonight's finals.
Coming up on the fixture list this evening we have the men's 200m butterfly final; women's 50m freestyle final; women's 200m breaststroke final; women's 100m backstroke final; men's 100m breaststroke final; women's 4x200m freestyle final; and the men's Para-sport 200m freestyle S14 final.
Phew. It's going to be an action packed evening here in Glasgow!
16:50 Stephanie Morton will face Anna Meares in an all Australian sprint gold medal match tomorrow after each won their semi-final encounters 2-0.
Medal action in the cycling

![Glasgow 2014 gold medal](https://cdn.statically.io/img/www.insidethegames.biz/images/2014/07/Glasgow_2014_blog_images/Glasgow_2014_gold_medal.jpg)
The pace got faster and faster, largely thanks to home hope Katie Archibald, but it was Edmondson who ultimately timed her effort best to upgrade her individual pursuit silver. Compatriot Amy Cure takes silver and bronze goes to Elinor Barker of Wales. A photo finish is still confirming that result but it should stand.
16:30 17 laps to go in the 10km track race now in the Velodrome. It's a 40 lap race, first one to cross the line who wins. As simple as that. Joanna Rowsell of England and Annette Edmondson of Australia are both involved, gold and silver medal winners in the individual pursuit yesterday.
Also in there is England's two time Olympic champion Laura Trott. The two events she won in London, the omnium and team pursuit, are not on the programme so this non-Olympic event is her best shot of a medal. The pace is quickening, but everyone is still together...
16:25 Next on track is the women's 10km scratch race finals. This should be a good one!
16:20 In that men's Para-sport sprint B tandem's Australia's Paul Kennedy went 1-0 up against Welsh rider Matthew Ellis in the bronze medal final.
In the gold medal race, Scotland's Neil Fachie, who took gold on the track yesterday, went one behind to Kieran Modra of Australia to the disappointment of the home crowds, it must be said.
16:18 It appears reporter Nick Butler has made it to the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, and just in time too. It's finals time on the track!

Clydegate
16:00 Following editor Duncan Mackay's pressing question in this morning media briefing regarding the Clyde Trail QR code epidemic, a spokesperson for Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, has provided a kindly statement addressing the issue.
"Since it was launched, thousands of local and visiting fans have been out following Clyde's Trail and having their picture taken with him. Thanks to their feedback, we will be introducing new, larger QR codes at each location from today to make it even easier to download and collect all 25 designs when using the Clyde's Trail app, which is available for free from iTunes and Google Play."
If you're not up to date with the issue that has left Glasgow communities in chaos then maybe this picture of insidethegames managing director Sarah Bowron's struggles will highlight the problem.

15:53 Amid the excitement of today's Usain Bolt conference, the rugby sevens and of course the lawn bowls, we've failed to mention the world record set in the pool by Australia's Daniel Fox.
The 23-year-old set a new fastest time of 1:57.16 in his 200m freestlye S14 heat.
He'll now race for gold inside the Tollcross International Swimming Centre at 19:29 this evening.

Chandela scored a finals total of 206.7 with Paul on 204.9. Nur Suryani Mohamed Taibi secures the bronze with a score of 184.4.
Trouble on the buses
15:35 It appears that after my mishaps on the bus yesterday we've had more drama on the infamous SECC to Velodrome journey, Nick Butler has more..

Warm words on the rugby sevens

Yates slams Welsh doping failures
![Quote marks](https://cdn.statically.io/img/www.insidethegames.biz/images/2014/07/Glasgow_2014_blog_images/Quote_marks.jpg)
- Matthew Yates, winner of a Commonwealth Games 800m bronze medal at Auckland 1990, was an uncompromising character as an athlete and retirement does not seem to have softened him. He has no sympathy with Rhys Williams and Gareth Warburton, the Welsh athletes forced out of the Commonwealth Games after testing positive for drugs they are blaming on a contaminated supplement.
15:00 Bolt gets up to leave only to return a few seconds later. The microphone is switched back on. What can he possibly have to say? He seems to want to complain about the fact his various titles honorary titles have not been included on his name plate on the table for the press conference. Mandy Keegan, director of press operations at Glasgow 2014, promises to correct it for next time.
Bolt briefly comes to the front of the stage afterwards but quickly decides to draw back as he is mobbed by journalists wanting to take "selfies" with him...
![Usain Bolt with Clyde the Mascot ©ITG](https://cdn.statically.io/img/www.insidethegames.biz/images/2014/07/Glasgow_2014_blog_images/Usain_Bolt_with_Clyde_the_Mascot.jpg)
14:50 Bolt will not be pressed on who he thinks will win the 100m in his absence. He is looking forward to watching it. A lot of silly questions here, two of which are simply requests for a "selfie" afterwards.
Now a more serious one of his view of the situation in Israel and Palestine. He's dealt with a few curveball questions in his time, and is not going to comment on this. "Are you definitely going to run this week," he is asked next? "What a weird question," Bolt answers. "Of course I am. Why else would I be Glasgow?"
14:48 A lot of sport going on despite our Usain-Bolt themed distractions, Australia have taken a 3-0 lead over Wales in the men's hockey.
14:43 Have you ever worn a kilt, Usain? Do you want to now? "Red is not my colour," says the great Jamaican. Good get out ploy there.
14:41 He confirms he will definitely appear in the heats of the 4 x 100m relay, so there is no prospect of him not having a chance to compete if his team mates drop the baton.
14:39 And here is Usain Bolt! Shaking hands with the schoolchildren and, in slightly bemused fashion, with Clyde the Mascot.
He is accompanied by Mike Fennell, head of the Jamaica Olympic Association.
![Glasgow 2014 gold medal](https://cdn.statically.io/img/www.insidethegames.biz/images/2014/07/Glasgow_2014_blog_images/Glasgow_2014_gold_medal.jpg)
14:33 And right on cue, Clyde the Mascot has walked on stage in the Loch Lomand suits, with five schoolchildren in local athletics vests. No Usain Bolt yet though...
![Quote marks](https://cdn.statically.io/img/www.insidethegames.biz/images/2014/07/Glasgow_2014_blog_images/Quote_marks.jpg)
- Scotland's Stuart Hogg following the rugby sevens near miss. Hogg is a 15-a-side specialist who was the youngest member of the British and Irish Lions squad which beat Australia last year.
14:25 Editor Duncan Mackay and reporter Nick Butler are awaiting an appearance from a certain Mr Usain Bolt.
Along with the rest of Glasgow, it would appear. Very different to the morning press briefing earlier...

So close for Scotland at Ibrox

That fired up the crowd even more and Lee Jones crossed the line twice as the defending champions were rocked but they held on only just to win 17-14.
Meanwhile, two tries each for Philip Burgess, Daniel Norton, Tom Mitchell and James Rodwell helped England to an opening match win over Malaysia while a hat-trick from Seabelo Senatla saw South Africa secure a comfortable 36-0 victory against Trinidad and Tobago.
Greg Jeloudev bagged four tries in Australia's 43-5 win over Uganda.
- Reporter Gary Anderson almost witnesses a rugby sevens super-shock over the All Blacks
14:17 But better news in the host nation in rugby sevens, they've reduced the gap to 14-17 against New Zealand.
The All Blacks have not been beaten in Commonwealth sevens since 1998. Could it happen now? One minute to go...
14:15 Big blow for Scotland in the penultimate end at the bowls as South Africa take three and move 13-10 ahead. Just one left to go now but it's looking like the Scots have a mountain to climb if they are to rescue a victory here.
A splashing of green and pink as reporter Paul Osborne takes cover at the lawn bowls.

He beat Drew Christie of Scotland in the final, while David Warlow of England took bronze.
14:07 And that's it for the bronze in the lawn bowls. Australia take it with a 14-11 victory over New Zealand. Good timing as well as the rain has just started to fall."
14:04 England have hammered out the latest thrashing in rugby sevens with a 57-0 win over Sri Lanka. Hosts Scotland are up next, facing the daunting prospect of playing New Zealand, who lead 12-0 at the moment.
13:57 We're at the business end of the bowls now and South Africa are two ahead in the gold medal final against Scotland. The score there is 10-8 to the South Africans with three ends to play. Australia have all but sealed the bronze as they lead 14-9 with just a single end to go."
When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going
13:54 Barbados' rugby sevens squad includes Anthony Bayne-Charles, the 31-year-old son of legendary British singer Billy Ocean, the country's biggest selling black artist. With Scotland and the All Blacks up next,, Bayne-Charles, a member of London Nigerian RFC, will probably be listening to h
