One of the most fundamental changes that has happened within the Jagran New Media editorial team is that it is much more data-centric when producing online content, said CEO Bharat Gupta.

Speaking at the INMA South Asia Media Festival, Gupta said: “They are more analytics driven. It’s not about producing content which they like. It is also about understanding how did the audience react to that content. Did they engage well?”

Accepting the change that online content must be driven by data has helped the editorial team become better functioning, he added: “Now, once they understand the audiences better, they are able to deliver their content more effectively.”

Going into the future, Gupta sees editorial as evolving more into active content generating teams.

“Rather than just relying on reportage of events, they must identify the need gaps which are happening in the connected world and be ready with the right pieces of content.”
