Arriving into San Francisco on a Friday night, I expected the city to be teeming with people leaving work and celebrating the weekend but instead it’s about as lively as Dublin was on our way to the airport at 6am that morning.

Downtown, our taxi driver explains, has yet to recover from the effects of the pandemic and the increase of people working from home means that the nightlife is no longer what it once was.
