When Elaine Stock penned the novel, We Shall Not Shatter (Book 1 of the Resilient Women of World War II Trilogy published by Amsterdam Publishers) inspired by her paternal heritage from Brzeziny, Poland, she discovered her passion for writing what she loved to read: historical fiction. Exploring the role of women who are courageous and gutsy (that’s courageous with added spirit and determination), Elaine enjoys creating stories sharing how all faiths and races are interconnected and need each other.

All 3 novels of the Resilient Women of WWII Trilogy have made Amazon Bestseller Lists and earned the Historical Fiction Company’s 5-star and “Highly Recommended” Review. Book 1, We Shall Not Shatter, is a 2023 Category Finalist in the Eric Hoffer

This took some thinking! My most special moments as I write a story is when I reread a scene and it makes me cry... I hope if it has that much impact for me that it may also resonate with a reader.

As a debut novelist (I've had a couple of short stories published in anthologies prior to the release of Always With You) my most memorable moments--so far--are:
--having a laugh when I found it was difficult to articulate that my "story" is now a "book"
--discovering that someone in India is reading Always With You (just that someone in another country is reading my novel was a wow factor for me!)
--receiving a very lovely hand-written note from someone who greatly enjoyed Always With You.(less)

On my paternal side of the family, my grandfather, at the age of 7, immigrated with his parents from Brzeziny, Poland to America. Although he was hearing, a few of his siblings were deaf. All but one (the oldest) were young enough to dodge the more closer health inspections at Ellis Island. However, the oldest, a teen girl, was turned away and was sent back to Poland, never to be heard from or about again. She was likely in her young 40s when the Nazis invaded Poland and being Jewish and deaf, she likely perished in the holocaust slaughter. My novel, of course, is a fictionalized tale inspired by my deaf great aunt, as well as a love-letter to a once thriving Brzeziny. I hope it encourages many to love and respect one another.(less)

Elaine Stock Christine, I've been busy between work, edits on my chapters for my agent, and my blog, but yes, I finally made it onto GoodReads. I still need to familiarize myself with this site. Step by step.

Christine Lindsay Hey, Elaine, glad to see you here at last.
