Linda Joy Myers has always been haunted by the power of the past to affect people in the stream of time. She learned about World War II through her grandmother, a passionate Anglophile who would rhapsodize about the unfairness of war. Together they watched black and white documentaries about the war when Linda Joy was young which led to a passion about history which she integrated into her own struggles with intergenerational trauma and her work as a therapist and a writer.
As founder of the National Association of Memoir Writers, Linda Joy is the author of four books on memoir writing. The Power of Memoir and Journey of Memoir help writers find their way to their healing stories. Her two memoirs Don’t Call Me Mother, and Song of the Plains

“We are all joined in a circle of stories.”
Linda Joy Myers, Journey of Memoir: The Three Stages of Memoir Writing

“Blood bears all it has known and seen unto the following generations. Those who tread the earth leave the scent of memory, registered in cells. They live even now, drifting through the dreams of descendants. You can hear them calling. . . .”
Linda Joy Myers, Song of the Plains: A Memoir of Family, Secrets, and Silence

“Without compassion, we will never know anyone or anything, not even our own story. Too much judgment, too many ideas and attitudes will stand in the way of the fundamental principle that we are similar to, connected with, and part of everything else.”
Deena Metzger

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”
Mahatma Gandhi

“If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.”
Mark Twain

“If you judge people, you have no time to love them.”
Mother Teresa

“I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.”
Thomas A. Edison
