's review

it was ok
bookshelves: fairytale, fantasy, retelling, ya, 2-stars, unpopular-opinion, nope, reviewed

i watched the movie brave one time, because i was 14 when it was in theaters and still susceptible to the whims of my then-very small siblings.

but if you told me very confidently that i did NOT see it, i would have to believe you, because i don't remember even one thing about it.

so at least i can soothe myself with the knowledge that i will almost certainly forget this in its entirety.

it has an annoying romance and was so boring and also who wrote it??? because it wasn't maggie stiefvater.

i have to believe it wasn't.

bottom line: this memory is set to self destruct.

tbr review

i am whatever the opposite of a disney adult is. but maggie stiefvater wrote a disney book, so here i am. swallowing my pride.

and my gag reflex.

we are so.......Brave

Melissa Sullivan This is my exact feeling. I love Maggie like New York Super Fudge Chunk but I’m finding that I have to actively talk myself into cracking this open.

She’s so lucky her fanbase is amazingly dedicated! 😂

I think Mulan and Brave were some of the few I've actually enjoyed

M.L. Little Brave is such a good movie.

message 8: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay brave was a solid animated film especially for a princess movie but I can't help wondering if there is enough narrative meat left on the bone for a fun and insight giving book? I am excited to see your full review, Lucie!

emma shoutout to all the brave fans. i am completely neutral!

Audrey I've seen it once, along with most Disney movies. The ones my kids watched over and over were Monsters Inc, Toy Story 1 & 2, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles. Cars was the tail end of that, so I didn't see that one as many times.

those are good ones! monsters inc probably my favorite of that bunch. cars was my brother's favorite movie for about 9 years so i think i could recite it from memory

Audrey I think that was still before Disney bought Pixar. They were really good then. The more recent ones, like Moana and Coco and Inside Out, I've only seen once. I haven't seen any of the last several years.

The other one my son watched over and over was The Nightmare Before Christmas, and now he has no memory of it! I sure do.

Rachel Ohh wow. This was on my Christmas List but now I'm having second thoughts. Plus, that romance part seems like an odd thing for this story.

message 15: by Lexie (new)

Lexie I also remember that movie being rather forgettable but having potential that just ended up lacking something.

Cari Legere Hold up, romance?! This is MERIDA we're talking about. She doesn't need any love interests

Wiktoria WHAT? There's no romance in this book, also it's not book about brave movie, it's book about something what happened after that

Wiktoria OKAY UMMM IM SORRY THERE IS
