If that doesn't get you ramped up, the intrigue and double crossing in this book just might do it for you.
This book takes place right after the event of the first book in the seires, A Subtle Agency. Anton and Li Wu have joined the Mirovar Force Team of vampire hunters. There they will meet various people who have various feelings about Anton joining them. Juliette Mirovar quickly won me over. Then there is Chloe Armitage who is a fascinating, power hungry, fierce, and intelligent vampire. I love her scenes!
Like the first book in the series, this book has lots of characters (many new ones), vivid descriptions, great dialogue, and action. When things are not being blown up, there are fights with guns and swords. These are not the Twilight Vampires.
As I mentioned there are quite a few new characters, but they all have distinct personalities and I found it easy to keep track of them.
This book has a little bit of everything: characters to root for, characters that I love to hate, suspense, agendas, cunning, double crossing, deception, and lots of danger. There is also a sense of tension and danger flowing throughout the book. Woohoo! I love tension in books.
This was a fun, entertaining and riveting book. It left me wanting more and thankfully there is another book in the series.

This was a unique, thrilling, and gripping book. Plus, the action! It was top notch! The book begins in ancient Egypt and then comes full circle in Boston, Massachusetts. Anton Slayne had no idea what would transpire when he opened his front door one evening when his parents were out. It is a "If I could go back in time and do things differently “moment. But he does open the door and readers (And Anton) come face to face with Vampire general, Chloe Armitage. After suffering a horrific loss, Anton soon finds himself taken in and trained by Mr. Wu. It is there that he will learn so many things, I am surprised that it didn't make his head spin. No head spinning but lots of ramping.
Action packed and full of vampires, vampire hunters, those who clean up after vampires and those hungry for power. There are a lot of characters who belong to various groups/societies. It is obvious that Chloe Armitage has something up her sleeve, but what? Who will come out on top?
This is the first book in the series, and it did leave me wanting more.

Hunted: A page-turning dark fantasy romance is the conclusion of the Marchwood Vampire series. It is a YA paranormal romance that all ages can enjoy. In this book there is a threat to life as they know it in their happy bubble at Marchwood. A young woman has come around and she is both mysterious and beguiling. Her name is Nadia, and she is going to shake things up in this book.
Like the other books in this series, the book is told in the present and in the past. In the past, we see an ancient people, their lives, practices, and tribulations. We also see the emergence of a threat and a hunter.
In the present we see Maddy and Alex, along with their family members living at Marchwood until a stranger comes into the presence.
I enjoyed reading this series and the last book tied things up nicely for the characters. Shalini Boland created a unique world full of interesting characters and did her research to bring ancient cultures to life.
This was an enjoyable YA paranormal romance.

This book had me at the description of it being a cross between Fried Green Tomatoes, Steel Magnolias and Dracula! What’s not to love about that?
Patricia Campbell gave up her career as a nurse, to be stay at home Mother raising her two children with a distant husband. Her book club was her one escape. It was a place where she could indulge her love to true crime and suspenseful fiction.
When a man moves in next door, she is intrigued but her interest is soon turned to mistrust, and she soon discovers that he is not as he seems. After a gruesome and sinister discovery, she knows what he is, but will anyone believe her? Does she suffer from an overactive imagination? Is her choice in books affecting her judgement? (I know the answer to that must be NO, otherwise I am in a whole lot of trouble myself!) Is she mentally ill? Or is she right?
This was a fun, light read with some gruesome scenes and it hit the spot. This book sucked me in, and after it grabbed hold, I could not get away (see what I did there?) This book has spunk, wit, blood and guts. All the things I hoped for in this book.
An enjoyable read especially during this time of social distancing. But that cockroach scene -- not that I could have done without! What, a cockroach? Read it be grossed out too! Otherwise, fun, light, witty, and a little gory.

Talk about getting sucked in (pun intended) by a book! The narrator of this book tells us that he is an unreliable narrator at the very beginning. He is a fourteen-year-old vampire who has lived 60 years as a vampire (so I guess, he is really 74 years old) He tells us about his life before, how he was changed and life after becoming a vampire.
He lives underground with other vampires and shares his experiences with humans, the scene in 1970's NYC. Life is pretty much easy for him and he does as he pleases until one day, he witnesses something in the subway, something curious, something interesting, and something deadly, something hunting, something dangerous, something that will change things in those tunnels he calls home.
This was a fun, campy, entertaining read. At various parts of this book, my rating changed, it went from a 5 star to a 3 star to a 4-star rating, but then that ENDING! HOLY HELL that ending. It was out of this world. In the land of I-did-not-see-that-coming, that ending knocked my socks off and left me sitting with my mouth open.
Don't let the creepy cover deter you, this book was good. These are not the Twilight vampires; these vampires will knock your socks off. This is a bloody good book. Seriously, bloody good.

I think the Author gave enough of a backstory that I did not need to go back and read the first book. For me, it did well as a stand alone book. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it either. I liked it. It had some clever and funny moments. The part of the book I enjoyed most was Abby's diary entries. They were fun.

This book was really, really good. I found it to be a fast and very interesting read. I loved the characters, the story and the way the plot unfolded. The trust and friendships that developed as the stroy progressed were believeable and well written. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes vampires, werewolves and/or humans with special powers. Heck, I would just recommend this book to anyone who likes a good story. So happy I received this giveaway....more
