The latest novel by Iris Johansen. In it, she introduces a new female character, Alisa Flynn.
Chaos begins with a school in Africa being taken over by a militia group. A man by the name of Masenak has taken over St. Eldon’s Academy for girls and has kidnapped many of the students. One of them is a girl by the name of Sasha Lawrence.
Sasha has an affinity for horses. Some might said she is a horse whisperer. After her capture, Masenak treats Sasha differently than the other girls. He wants Sasha in charge of the horses he stole when he took the girls. He is especially interested in the horse named Chaos.
When Alisa Flynn finds out her protégé, Sasha, who she loves like a sister is taken, she knows she must get her back. She also knows she can't do it alone. As a CIA agent, Alisa is capable of tracking the culprits but she needs help saving Sasha and all the other girls that were kidnapped too.
Alina will ask help from billionaire Gabe Korgan to aid her in her quest. She wants Sasha safe and out of harm's way.
Korgan has never met anyone like Alina. She intrigues him. He is known as a renaissance man. He is always inventing or developing something that amazes the world. However, this time he is the one who is amazed by Alina.
Nice Romantic Suspense novel! It had me turning the pages quickly. The addition of Sasha and her relationship with horses especially Chaos, made me read faster.
Alisa and Korgan made a good team in every way. Margaret and Juno were excellent secondary characters.

Sandra Brown is a must-read for me. She is one of my favorite writers. I couldn’t pass on Thick as Thieves. I'm extremely thankful to Grand Central Publishing for my early copy.
In Thick as Thieves, a heist gone wrong, a murder, and a father’s disappearance twenty years ago are at the center of the story.
Arden Maxwell decides to move back to her family home when she realizes she is pregnant. Her home has been isolated and left unkept since her father disappeared that awful night twenty years ago. Arden might not realize it at the beginning but she is looking for answers. After tragedy strikes, she is determined to find out more about her father's disappearance and it seems like Ledge Burnet might have some or all of the answers.
Life has not treated Ledge Burnet fairly. He lost his parents at an early age and his uncle and his wife took him in. Soon after, his aunt died and it just became the two of them. Ledge was placed in juvie for smoking marijuana. An error he's not going to repeat until the night Arden's father disappears and he is being taken to jail after he's stopped by cops and drugs are found in his car. Ledge is certain he was framed two decades ago and he, as much as Arden, wants to know the truth.
As with the majority of the books by Sandra Brown I've read, this one is a page-turner. The suspense was killing me. Some things I guessed, some others took me by surprise.
Mrs. Brown can write great enemies. In this case, Rusty was an evil man with too much power and a hateful soul. It was so easy to hate him.
My sole complaint would be the ending. Everything resolved too neatly for me. Anyway, the end was not enough for me not to enjoy it.

When I saw an email from Berkley with an early copy of Hidden, I couldn't jump fast enough to request it. Laura' Griffin is one of my favorite writers. I'm a fan for sure but I wasn't aware she was beginning a new series. Imagine my happiness at learning this fact!
The Texas Murder Files first book is Hidden. It stars a young journalist, Bailey Rhoads and a detective, Jacob Merritt. Usually, this combo doesn't mix well in real life but Laura makes it work in spades in this romantic suspense.
The story begins with a woman jogging in a park and then getting stabbed to death. The problem is that Dana Smith doesn't really exist. She has no friends, no family, and her employer, a doctor who hired her as a nanny, doesn't know anything more about her than what the cops do.
Hidden is an interesting novel with great characterization. I loved Bailey. She was smart, resourceful and stubborn- in a good way. She knew the murder had to have another angle and she was willing to dig and put herself on the line to find it. She wouldn't let go of the story and she wanted to bring justice to the dead woman.
Jacob was the perfect complement to Bailey. He was strong, dedicated and he cared for the victims. Also, he was as stubborn as Bailey in not letting go of the case as she was. He wanted the person responsible for Dana's death behind bars.
Jacob's partner, detective Kendra Porter was very cool too. She was essential to the investigation and when she could've been catty, she wasn't. She piqued my interest and I want to learn more about her.
Lastly, John Colt's character. He was so mysterious about himself which only made me want to know everything about him. I hope this is not the end of John. He deserves his own story.
As a whole, I was pleased with the way Hidden developed. I'm already pumped to read her next work in this series but really any book by Laura Griffin is a winner in my book.

As a huge, Sandra Brown's fan, I'm committed to trying to read all of her books. Every time I have downtime, or I had read a few books that didn't cut it for me, I revert back to something I know I'm going to enjoy.
Low Pressure is full of suspense, romance, intrigue and great plot twists which is not unusual for Mrs. Brown's arsenal of amazing books.
From the first chapter, I knew it was going to be a good one.
Bellamy Lyston Price has written a novel about a murder. She has based her book, Low Pressure on a real-life event, her sister Susan's murder. When Bellany was twelve, during a Memorial day festivity, a tornado hit their party and soon after, her sister was found murdered.
Susan's boyfriend at the time, Denton Carter was the prime suspect. Yet, Dent denied ever being around the park and he had a firm alibi. He was flying a plane with his soon to be boss, Gall Hathaway.
Susan's family, her father, Howard (who is dying of cancer), her step-mother, Olivia and her step-brother, Steven are very unhappy about the book. Susan's murder affected all of them eighteen years ago and having the wound opened again is hurting them now. It doesn't help that Rocky Van Durbin, a sensationalist reporter won't let the matter go. Furthermore, there are many others who are unhappy with what Low Pressure has stirred, Dale Moody was the cop who investigated the murder, Rupe Collier was the DA at the time and Ray Strickland is obsessed with hurting Bellamy and Dent since his brother was the one who paid for Susan's murder when Ray is sure his brother was innocent.
Low Pressure is another winner. I loved the audio as much as the Kindle. As always, the characters are well-developed and the storyline is an interesting one. I didn't love Denton as much as I've loved the other male characters. I did like Bellamy a lot.
I can't wait to read another book by this great author.

I do love reading any of Sandra Brown's books. It brings me comfort to know ahead of time that I'll enjoy hours of entertainment. Outfox is a suspense romance novel with a serial killer on the loose.
In Outfox, we have the main character, FBI agent Drex Easton who's seeking justice. He has made his life's work to hunt down the man responsible for the disappearance and possible murder of wealthy women and their fortunes. For Drex, the hunt is personal. He doesn't care about not running the investigation by the book as long as he can outfox his guy. After some new information comes to light, Dex is sure Weston Graham and Jasper Ford are the same man and with the help of two of his friends, he thinks he can prove it.
When he moves next to Jasper, he meets his much younger wife, Thalia Shafer. Dex knows he's in trouble when he finds himself attracted to this woman. He doesn't know if she's an innocent and possibly his next victim or if she's his accomplice but one way or another, he's ready to find out. Using surveillance equipment and his own wit, he knows this time, he won't let Jasper disappear again.
As a whole. I liked Outfox. I loved Drex's personality. He wanted to prove that there was a serial killer out there who had gotten away with murder for way too long and he was not going to be deterred. I liked Thalia too although it took me longer to like her character, I mean how did she not know that Jasper was evil. What made her say yes to his wedding proposal?
Anyway, the suspense kept me entertained and the romance was fantastic! There was one twist that I thought came out of nowhere and didn't bring much to the storyline but that is just my opinion.
Aleatha has a way with words. She's always able to grab my attention from the very first chapter.
Secrets is the first book in the Web of Sin series. The dark setting intrigued me and the suspense made me turn the pages constantly.
The book begins with Renee being sent away by her adoptive mother. Their lives are in danger and she must run. Her mother hands her new a new identity and tells her she must move to Colorado. She will cease to be Renee and she will become Kennedy Hawkins. However, before she leaves, her mother reveals her true identity. Her real name is Araneae McCrie.
"The devil has been searching for you. And my greatest fear has always been that he find you."
Ten years later, due to her successful company Sinful Threads, she must return to the place she promised her adoptive mother she would never go back to, the city of Chicago. She will come to regret her decision. Or maybe not, after all, she will land in the arms of Sterling Sparrow.
"Sparrow, Allister Sparrow. He's currently in charge, but one day it will be his son, Sterling."
Sterling is a very powerful and rich man. Someone who has waited to take Araneae as his wife. He's determined to do so without a second thought. Araneae knows he has the information about her past she is desperate to learn. He holds all the cards. She must do as he says or the people closest to her will get hurt.
"Sparrow, Allister Sparrow. He's currently in charge, but one day it will be his son, Sterling."
I can't believe the book ends in a cliffhanger. There were so many lies and secrets! Everyone was hiding something. Araneae didn't know who to trust. I feel like there is much more for us to learn about Araneae's childhood and her real parents. I know Sterling has to be the good guy (although he's the anti-hero) and since her life is in danger, he has the means to protect her too.
I liked Araneae. She had a backbone. Even when she had no choice, she still made her dislike of the situation known. She didn't roll over and that was a plus.
Sterling is a smart man. He served his country, cultivated true friendships along the way and now he's the CEO of Sparrow Enterprises. We know he hated his father Allister Sparrow and that he was promised Araneae when he was too young to know better. He does have an obsession with her and I'm sure he has been following her progress through the years. It will be interesting to know how much he was involved in her life without her knowing.
I'm excited about the next book and I'm so glad Aleatha is not making me wait long.

It's always a thrill when I embark into another Sandra Brown novel. She writes compelling characters, thoughtful plotlines and has plenty of good twists to keep this suspense reader happy.
Griff Burkett is fresh out of prison when he's asked to meet Foster Speakman and his wife Laura. Griff went to prison for five years after being found guilty for taking payment by his bookies in exchange for forfeiting a game while he was the Dallas Cowboy's quarterback. Everyone in Texas despises him for doing it and despite five years gone by, everyone still remembers what he did.
As Enemy #1 and without any of his football money (which he lost before going to prison) it's hard to find a new job offer. When Speakman offers him money in exchange for performing a special service, first he thinks Foster is crazy but by the end of the night, he's agreeing to do what they want from him.
Laura Speakman loves her husband. She will do anything he asks of her. She will even do the crazy thing he's requesting from her. At first, she doesn't trust or likes Griff but when she gets to know him, she's conflicted. She realizes she has developed feelings for him. She tries to severe her connection with him but then a murder brings them closer together.
I had fun reading/listening to Play Dirty. It had plenty of suspense, an evil character to hate and two good twists.
As for the characters, I liked how Griff was not cookie-cutter perfect. He was down on his luck and he had to start over from scratch. I loved that Laura was a cut-throat businesswoman. She worked as hard as her husband or maybe even more. I'm not sure how she could have fallen for Foster who was manipulative and deceitful.

Something weird happened to me while I was reading Stone Cold Heart. I was more interested in the suspense and the unsub than in the romance. As a romantic at heart, this was really shocking to me. No doubt only Laura Griffin can distract me from a HEA!
Stone Cold Heart is the 13th book in the Tracers series. Each book has a new couple investigating a case.
Newcomer Sara Lockhart is a forensic anthropologist. She's at a wedding when she's called by detective Nolan Hess to assist on an investigation. Human bones have been found at a National Park. Sara has recently relocated to Texas after spending some time in Guatemala. She accepted a job at the Delphi Crime Center. Sara is confident in her performance. She's a hard worker and prefers to stay away from any romantic notions. Her last relationship ended with her breaking up her own engagement.
Nolan Hess feels a responsibility to his town. A girl disappeared almost a year ago and her family is still looking for answers. Nolan wants nothing more than to bring the family some closure. He would love to capture the person responsible for her disappearance and put them behind bars for a long time. When human bones are found at the park, he thinks they could be the remains of the missing girl but Sara has her doubts. Then, a new young woman disappears in a city close by.
Stone Cold Heart had the perfect components of a romantic suspense. Laura Griffin is able to create the right environment for the crimes. In this case, the parks, the rock climbing and the caves were an excellent addition to the mystery. The idea of a serial killer dumping bodies so close to other people enjoying the outdoors was scary. I was biting my nails trying to figure out who was the killer. I knew it had to be close to them but I wasn't sure who it was until the end.
Stone Cold Heart is a great complement to the Tracers series. I hope we see many more stories to come.

It was bound to happen. For the first time since I started reading her books, I found a hero who's not to my tasting.
Why?
He was so mean and rude to her. For me, it was a little too late when he realized what he had and then decided not to let her go.
Maybe it's because this book was written some time ago but I just didn't like the guy. I was all about the heroine. She did her best in an awful situation and she was super patient with him and his frequent outbursts of anger. I mean she had no other means of survival so I get why she needed to be on her best behavior with him but once civilization was back on the plate, she should have made him grovel big time.
So what's Two Alone about?
Rusty Carlson and Cooper Landry found themselves as the sole survivors after a plane crash. Rusty is the first one to wake up and she helps Cooper get out of the plane. As soon as Cooper is awake, he takes the lead in organizing their survival.
Rusty is a successful real state agent in Los Angeles. She comes from money. Despite this, she's able and ready to deal with her new environment.
Cooper is an ex-Vietnam vet. He's rough around the edges. He's a man of few words and he's someone who mistrusts women implicitly. He dislikes Rusty from the moment his eyes landed on her. She's too beautiful and probably in need of a sugar daddy. He also thinks she's a seductress who's making him be consumed by lust.
Uff, can you tell why I wasn't a fan of Cooper?
Now, the writing per se was as always stellar with great descriptions and ambiance.

Huge thanks to Gallery, NetGalley and Laura Griffin for providing me with a complimentary copy of Desperate Girls in exchange for an honest review.
Talk about excited about reading Desperate Girls. I love all the books by Laura Griffin and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. Even better, Desperate Girls is the first book in the Wolfe Security series (Yay! more swoony alpha guys to look forward to). Not that I didn't miss the Tracer series' characters and I'm selfishly hoping for more books in that world.
Desperate Girls begins with the murder of a prominent judge. This murder is linked to a known murderer and rapist who recently escaped from prison. The judge used to be a prosecutor and she was the one responsible for putting him behind bars.
Brynn Holloran is a defense attorney. She's ruthless in court and she's always prepared for whatever happens there. Her next case is extremely important to her. She believes the accused is actually innocent. She wants to do anything in her power to make sure he's a free man. When the news of the judge's death gets to her, she's shell-shocked. Brynn used to be a prosecutor and she worked for the demised judge.
Brynn's boss is convinced her life is in danger. He doesn't want Brynn or Ross, another lawyer in the firm, to be the next victims. He hires Wolfe Security to prevent any damage.
Erick is an ex-secret service agent. He now works for Wolfe Security. His job is to protect Brynn. It does bother him that he's attracted to her but he can't let himself get distracted by it or she could suffer the consequences.
Romantic Suspense, when done well, is a pleasure to read. Laura Griffin knows the exact combination of action and romance to inject into her books to make it work. She made Brynn a strong heroine. Although in the beginning, Brynn was not pleased with her security entourage and a couple of times she rebelled against it. Not very smart on her part. However, once she knew the threat was real, she followed their lead without questions.
Eric knew his job. He was a man of a few words but no one could say he was not the take charge kind of guy. He was secure in his ability to protect her and defend her from any threat. He tried to avoid falling for her but sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants.
Desperate Girls is written in three different points of views. Brynn and Erick have one. So does the female police officer investigating the case. There is one character crossover from the Tracers series and a couple of interesting male cops too. The twist at the end was unexpected but welcomed.
I'm never disappointed when I read a Sandra Brown's book. She has become synonymous with a one-click for me.
The Switch was an addictive story with enough suspense and romance to make me want to stop doing anything else but read,
The Setting:
A pair of twins, Melina and Gillian Lloyd are having lunch together. During it, Gillian informs Melina that she has gone through an artificial insemination that morning. Melina is happy for her sister and she knows Gillian's current boyfriend is fine with it too.
Melina advises she should do something to distract herself. She proposes switching places just like they used to do when they were little. The twins are so identical that no one can tell them apart. Gillian declines. She's not about to behave like a kid again and she heads home instead.
As a media escort, Melina's night assignment is to take Colonel Christopher "Chief" Hart to a gala. Chief is a well-known NASA astronaut whom everyone loves. Melina and "Chief" hit it off from the get-go. They are attracted to each other and by the end of the night, moving to his suite to end the night together sounded like the perfect plan.
The next morning, Melina's nightmare begins. Her twin sister is found stabbed to death. The writing on the wall implies that someone had seen Melina and Chief together and they had assumed it was Gillian.
The twin is devastated by her loss and she wants answers. Chief is stricken too. Together they will look for the truth behind the murder. What they discover is something dark and twisted.
My thoughts:
I hated to see one of the twins go. Together they were fun and so very close to each other. But, I guess it was necessary in order for the remaining twin and Chief to go looking for the killer.
I liked Chief. He was there for her to the end. Chief had his own turmoils in regards to his race and what to do with his future after NASA. He was slow to admit his true feelings but I understood his conflicting emotions.
The big baddie was truly an ugly human if you can call him that. Talk about Narcissistic personality. He checked all the boxes with his grandiose ideas. Sadly, I'm sure there's a crazy guy out there just like him.
The Switch had two good twists or maybe just one. I guess I can say, I saw it coming but I still enjoyed the reactions it provoked.
As a side note, I thought The Switch's audio was well done.

The best part of Alessandra Torre's new duet is that I didn't have to wait long to read the conclusion.
Double Down starts just after the terrible ending of Even Money. Bell and Dario are both devastated in their own way. For her own safety, Bell will need to leave Las Vegas while Dario figures out a way to protect the woman he has fallen for. Unfortunately, things are not easy when you don't know who can be trusted.
Double Down gives us more insight into Dario's life before marrying Gwen which was something I was craving. We're introduced to a new character, Laurent. Laurent is Dario's friend. Someone he can count on. They have known each other for a while and they have each other's backs.
Double Down is fast-paced, steamy and full of action and suspense. The pages pretty much turned themselves. I was fully involved in the story and I couldn't wait to see where Alessandra Torre was taking us.
I'm hoping we get more books in this world. After all, we have Rick, Lance, Laurent and Bell's roommates which can all get a book of their own.

Another great addition to my Sandra Brown's favorite book list!
Tailspin had me from the first chapter. I couldn't wait to know what was waiting at the end of the tunnel.
Tailspin begins with a storm and a pilot who likes to pursue challenging flights. He's what we call a freight pilot. He'll fly under any circumstances. When another pilot turns down a job due to weather, Rye Mallett doesn't think twice and says yes. His destination is to fly to Georgia and deliver the cargo to a doctor by the name of Lambert. The cargo he's flying is a black box with unknown contents but he knows the contents have to be important enough to be asked to do so with the current conditions.
To his surprise, when he gets there, Dr. Lambert is nowhere to be found. Instead, Dr. Brynn O'Neil is there and she wants to take the box. Rye knows something is amiss and he wants to know what's inside the box. He doesn't think that Brynn is telling him the whole truth. Soon it's clear that someone covets the contents inside the box and they will stop at nothing to get it.
I love Rye and Brynn together. They had plenty of chemistry and attraction to make me believe that after forty-eight hours, they deserved to be together. So many things happened to them. There were plenty of twists to keep my attention and there were more than enough to make me forget about the real world.
Rye was fantastic. Despite his mantra of not getting involved, he couldn't walk away from Brynn. He was protective and resourceful.
Brynn was a very determined woman. She knew what the right direction to take and no one was going to stand in her way. I respected her.
Tailspin has plenty of action and romance to satiate all my reader's desires. I was fully involved with the plot and I loved the outcome.
Thank you Grand Central Publishing for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I'm always happy with Alessandra Torre's writing. I like her style and All In Duet was the perfect book to read this week!
In All In Duet, we meet the main protagonist, Bell. She works nights as a waitress for an underground casino run by Rick and Lance. She likes them as brothers and since the moment they became friends, they have been there for Bell. They care for her and they protect her. During the day, Bell is taking college classes. She shares an apartment with other girls and she has an ongoing thing with Ian, one of her teachers.
Dario is well known in Las Vegas. People fear him. When Dario catches someone stealing from him, there are dire consequences. His father-in-law is also someone to fear. He married Gwen to save her from him and he has promised her he will protect her from him, always.
Insert fate and one night Bell and Dario connect and both realize they are in trouble. All their best-laid plans go out the window. Bell can't resist Dario and Dario has never met anyone who makes him feel what Bell does to him.
But how can these two be together?
All In Duet is attention-grabbing. As soon as I read the first two pages, I couldn't put it down. It was fast-paced. I enjoyed the format and the execution of it all.
The book does end in a cliffhanger but Double Down is only a couple of weeks away.

Hello Darkness, my old friend...oh wait...just Hello, Darkness. It's so hard not to sing the song with this title.
Anywho, I liked what Sandra Brown did with this one. She was able to create five male suspects (well, maybe 2 of them were too weak to be the culprit but still) to keep me on my toes. Usually, I'm able to tell who the culprit is pretty early on. In this one, I had to wait until almost the end, to corroborate my suspicions.
Paris Gibson moved to Austin looking for a new beginning. For a couple of years now, she has been doing a music radio show at night. She has developed a faithful and large audience. Paris loves her job. She's able to work almost alone and no one really knows who she is. She likes to wear glasses even in the dark. Her eyes are sensitive and the darkness is her friend.
One night, a recurrent caller by the name of Valentino, tells her she's to blame for him kidnapping a young woman and in seventy-two hours, after raping her, he will kill her. Paris immediately seeks the help of the local police. She believes the threat of his listener and she wants to help in any way she can. What she was not expecting is to meet again a man from her past, Dean Malloy.
Dean Malloy is a not only a cop, he's also a psychologist. Recently, his teenage son has moved in with him. but they are not seeing eye to eye. His son is rebellious and most of the time has a bad attitude. When Paris comes back into Dean's life, he knows his feelings for her never went away and he will do anything to protect her. Finding Valentino becomes his priority.
Hello, Darkness had great suspense with a good built-in romance! I didn't approve of some of the things both main characters have done/doing but it didn't take away from me liking them both. I was glad they were able to have their second chance.
As for the bad guy, like I said earlier, there were so many who could be Valentino. The big reveal had its own twist which surprised me.
Sandra Brown proves once again, she knows how to write suspense novels.

Lethal has a great beginning!
Honor Gilette is baking when her daughter Emily tells her a man is hurt. Honor runs to the rescue. To her shock, he's brandishing a gun and telling Honor that he won't hurt them but he needs information. Honor fears for her daughter's life and she goes along with whatever this man wants in order to keep Emily safe. She recognizes the man as Lee Coburn, a man responsible for the mass murder of seven people the night before. The police are looking for him but instead of disappearing, he's at her front door bringing doubts in regards to her dead husband's integrity. Honor won't believe he was a dirty cop and she would do anything to prove it, including trusting Lee to uncover the truth.
Lee Coburn is deadly and he will stop at nothing until he finds what he's looking for. He knows he can't trust anyone and he's not inclined to do so until he meets Honor and her daughter. Little by little, they both make him want something he never thought he wanted or needed. When their lives are in danger, he knows he has to act to save them. He doesn't know if he's going to survive it but he sure is going to try to keep them alive.
I love Honor, Lee, and Emily. Emily with her innocence and sweetness made the big scary guy melt and reading it, put a smile on my face. Honor had a backbone and she was tough when she needed to be. She also supported Lee when she figured out he was telling her the truth. What about tall, dark and deadly? He was confident, resourceful and above all.. lethal.
I love romantic suspense and Lethal is a perfect example of this genre. We had plenty of crooked individuals to go around. Honor and Lee couldn't trust anyone except each other. I hated the Bookkeeper as well as the twins. They couldn't care less about hurting people. I was wishing them the worst. They were evil with a capital E.
Now, the end....what should I say? I wanted more. I just needed one more scene between Honor and Lee.
I'm on a Sandra Brown kick. I finished one and started another one book by her. They are addicting!
Envy is as entertaining as all of the other books I have read by her. The suspense, intrigue, and twists are classic Sandra Brown.
This novel begins when Maris Matherly-Reed receives a new manuscript for her review. She's a well-known editor and part owner of a very famous publishing house in NYC. She has a great relationship with her dad who opened the publishing house decades ago. She's married to Noah Reed, a famous writer who's now working for the publishing company as well.
Maris can't stop thinking about the manuscript. She contacts the writer P.M.E. but he's rude and seems unapproachable. She knows she can't pass up this opportunity and she decides to travel south and convince P.M.E to sign up with them. P.M.E aka Parker Evans's novel could become the next hit. It's the tale of two friends who had a rivalry. They both aspired to become more. Jealousy and envy will prevent one of them from succeeding.
When Maris meets Parker, she is taken by him. Behind the rude facade is a man who's in pain. He's also angry and she can tell he's keeping things from her. His manuscript is also captivating as the man who's writing it. Then, a terrible chain of events forces Maris to open her eyes and to realize what has been in front of her eyes all this time. But, is it too late???
I loved Envy. Both main characters felt real to me. Their emotions jumped out of the pages and swirled all around me. Prepare yourself to be sucked into this novel without a chance to stop. I was compelled to continue in a rapid spiral to the end. Unputabledown to say the least. A great book with a great plotline! Yes, some of the twists I saw coming but they were done right. Sandra Brown's writing is addicting like I mentioned at the beginning of my review.
“He kissed her like he meant it, like this kiss was going to be the last thing he ever did on earth, and he was going to do it right, thoroughly, and leave nothing wanting.”
Continuing with my addiction to Sandra Brown's writing, I had to pick up this book after finishing reading Friction. Mean Streak has a great plot with plenty of twists to make a suspense lover giddy with happiness.
Dr. Emory Charbonneau is training on a mountain trail for her upcoming marathon run. She's well-known in the area. Her partners at her office respect her and her patients love her. On the other hand, her home life is not so great. She's having marital problems just before she goes missing. Detectives Grange and Knight are suspicious of her husband Jeff and they are set on trying to prove it.
In the meantime, Emory wakes up in a cabin with a concussion in the presence of a stranger. At first, she's terrified of him but when he doesn't attack her or do anything worse, she starts relaxing in his presence. He's a man of a few words. He makes her reveal parts of herself while he hides everything from her, including his name. She can't avoid noticing how handsome he is and to her dismay, she's attracted to him. The more time she's forced to spend with him, the more she wants to get to know him. It doesn't help that she's unable to leave due to heavy fog and snow. From here on, the narrative only gets better. This reader was entertained and engrossed in the story. I won't say more to avoid spoiling it for you.
As with other books by Sandra Brown, I had fun reading Mean Streak. The main characters, as well as the side characters, were all well- developed. It was easy to like some of them and easy to hate a few. The twists and the side plotlines were the icing on the cake.

This was a great book from beginning to end. Classic Sandra Brown!
I'm a huge fan of SB. All her novels are awesome. They have great suspense with great romance too. Friction is not any different.
Friction begins when Texas Ranger Crawford Hunt is attending the custody hearing for his daughter Georgia. Crawford made many mistakes but now he's ready to regain custody of Georgia. Just when he's about to hear the verdict from Judge Holly Spencer, a masked gunman shows up in the courtroom and starts firing. Crawford goes into Texas Ranger mode and protects the judge.
Holly Spencer is in a full campaign trying to make her judge seat a permanent one. Her contender is annoying and a bully and she knows she will do a better job than him. Holly lives in a black and white world. She's a rule follower. She follows the law and she wants everyone to do the same. Meeting Crawford will change her mind.
As with other books by Sandra Brown, Friction is action-packed and there was a sense of urgency. Urgency to get to the bottom of who was behind the shooting and trying to stop him/her before more people get hurt. I was turning the pages like crazy because I needed to know. I love when I'm so taken by a book that nothing else matters. Sandra Brown always achieves this with me.

Romantic Suspense is one of my favorite genres and luckily Keep Her Safe falls into this category. I enjoyed reading it just like so many of Mrs. Tucker's other books.
So what's the story about?
Noah Marshall's world turns on its axis when his mother, the Chief of the Austin Police Department decides to tell him a secret which she has carried with her for years. After he learns about it, Noah's life will never be the same and he's determined to get to the bottom of the deceit and fix his mother's mistakes.
Gracie Richards's life has not been easy. When her father, Abe Wilkes was treated as a corrupt cop and her family was disgraced, she had to move into a trailer park in The Hollow. With a junkie for a mother and having no one to help her, she will fight to keep the family afloat. When Noah comes knocking, she's not sure about him but the more she gets to know him, the more she realizes, he's the real deal.
K. A. Tucker has a way of creating great characters with engaging plots, making me a fan of her work. I truly enjoyed her stories and I knew I was going to like this one too. I like that the romance was there but the suspense was as much of a factor too. Both Noah and Gracie were great for each other and of course, having a pet like Cyclops is always a plus.
