If you are looking for a romance, don't look any further. I adored this book! It was sweet and charming.
Gemma is ready for the next step in her life. She wants to have a baby. She has stage 4 endometriosis and she is done waiting for the right guy. Her marriage to Jeremy was a big disappointment and left her with a sour taste for romance. Adding salt on the wound, Jeremy has remarried and is on his third child.
Gemma needs an IVF partner and she asks her brother's best friend, Josh to be the donor. At first, Josh says no but then he changes his mind. Josh has been in Gemma's life since they were teenagers. Josh was her first too. A detail she has never forgotten.
Once Gemma decides on taking the next step on IVF, her boss Ian, who is a guru in self-help, asks her on a date. He is hot and handsome and she has liked him for the last seven years but is he what Gemma needs? Or is it Josh who is going with her to every doctor's appointment and makes her laugh when she is stressed?
Josh is hands down one of my favorite book boyfriends. He was there for Gemma all the way and I found him to be sweet, supportive, and super sexy.
Gemma was so much fun to read. She has so many great scenes like the koi pond, the pumpkin dress, the humble pie. Too many to count.
I loved Josh and Gemma Make a Baby so much. It's was hard to let go of these characters. I will miss them.
I did the audio for this novel and I thought it was phenomenal. I wanted to listen to it all at once, it was that compelling. The chapters just flew by.

So if you are a true fan, you know that Toby will finally marry Tybalt. We also know that she will be stabbed at least once before she gets married. Or by the end of the ceremony, her wedding gown will have blood all over it. Why? Because October Daye brings chaos wherever she goes! (Thinking about a crossover between my favorite UF's heroines, Mercy (Pat Briggs) and Toby could be a disaster together or maybe it would be a great team!!)
Toby's wedding is happening at High Court. Toby had never wanted to be involved in the details of her wedding. She has let her friend from childhood Stacy, her Fetch, May, Tybalt, and Kerry take control. It is not that she doesn't want to marry Tybalt. For her, the whole idea of a big wedding is not what she wants but she understands the importance of following protocol.
Of course, once they get to Toronto, immediately someone is murdered and Toby as the hero of the realm needs to put a stop to whatever plan is cooking. By her side, she will have the support of Quentin and Tybalt. This demonstrated how mature she has become. Toby has realized she doesn't need to be alone anymore. She can trust people close to her and she can't stop barging into situations blindly where she always gets hurt. (It only took a bunch of books but who is complaining?)
I love When Sorrows Come. It had me smiling and laughing. It also made me turn the pages fast enough to find out who was behind the attacks. I love these characters, and seeing Toby and Tybalt happy made my day!
I'm not sure if we only get two more books or if Seanan McGuire has decided to write more books in this series. I just hope that I can find out more about Stacy and Quentin's future, Raj becoming the King of Cats, Guillian sharing time with her mother, Simon becoming a true father to Toby, Luna and Sylvester apologizing for the wrongs against Toby, May getting married, The Luidaeg getting free from the geas bindings and so many more questions I have.

Short Story at the end of the book:
And With Reveling
The short story happens just after the ceremony. It's the wedding reception. It should really be the epilogue. You can't find it in the audiobook but it is on kindle ebook.
Toby and Tybalt get seven formal blessings as newlyweds which I'm guessing in Faerie, is a big deal. Hopefully, all those will protect them from what is yet to come.
My favorite part is how Tybalt deals with Sylvester. As many of you know, he has not treated Toby right.
Sylvester transferred his gaze to Tybalt. “You’ve never liked me,” he said.
“This is true. To be fair, you were once the man who stood between me and the woman I loved, and then became the man who treated the girl I found fascinating without half the respect that she deserved.”

Hobb is able to connect all the loose ends and make its conclusion a smooth one.
In the Fool's Fate, Fitz is trying to prevent the Fool from getting into the ship leaving for the island of Aslevjal. As per the last book, Elliana has asked Dutiful to bring him the head of IceFyre in order to seal their alliance. The Fool has confided in Fitz, the Fool knows he needs to save the dragon but traveling to the island means his death and Fitz will do anything to prevent his friend from dying.
During the voyage, things are not easy. Thick is seasick and with his Skill, he is making everyone feel miserable on the boat. Tempers are running high and Dutiful puts Fitz to the task of helping Thick who in turn asks Nettle for help. Yet, their dreams are invaded by Tintaglia who wants to learn more about IceFyre.
Before leaving for the frozen island where Icefyre is supposed to be, they learn of a legend involving the Black Man. Once on the island, someone is already waiting for them. Can you guess who?
The Skill and Witt coteries are in disagreement. One wants to slay the dragon, the other one wants to save it.
So many secrets are finally revealed including the Pale Woman, the Black Man, the dragons, the Skill, the Witt, Fitz, The Fool, the memory stones. I love the explanation we are given about why the Fool and the Black Man were able to change colors while the Pale woman was not.
The Fool and FitzChivalry's friendship and bond are unlike anything else. I love these characters together. I was also happy to see so many other characters reappearing and completing their circle. Yes, they were also some very sad moments that hurt me just as well.
I'm not sure knowing there are 3 more books involving the Fool and Fitz (after the Rainwild 4 books) is a good thing. I think I liked how this ended and I'm not sure I want to know what happens next. What am I saying? Of course, I need to know.

I can't believe that someone would read this book without enjoying it. I did the audio for some chapters and the narrator did an amazing job as Molly!
Molly Gray is a young woman working as a maid in a hotel. Molly is quite different from another 25 year old. She has a hard time understanding certain expressions, situations, sarcasm, and evil. When her grandmother was alive, she helped her navigate the world. Grandmother created a safe routine for Molly. She is the one who got her a job at The Grand Regency Hotel and the one who took care of her until she became ill.
After her passing, Molly felt lost but working is one of the things she loves the most. She is always on time, proud of her crisp clean uniform, and enjoys having her trolley full of supplies. Molly is OCD about her cleaning and she makes sure all the rooms she takes care of are left pristine, back to a state of perfection.
Molly starts becoming friendly with Mrs. Black. She and her husband stay in one of the suites regularly. Molly doesn't like Mr. Black. She believes he is a bad egg but the last thing she was expecting was to find him dead on his bed. After passing out, she comes back to herself and calls her boss to let him know about Mr. Black's death. The police are called in and soon they believe Molly is involved. Clue after clue is pointing to Molly but she knows she is not responsible for his death. Friends she thought she had begun turning on her and if she doesn't get help soon, she will lose more than her job, she will lose her freedom.
I adore Molly. She was an amazing woman. She had respect for others. She was smart and resourceful in her own special way. She had pride in her work and she was ready to help her friends.
I can't wait to see this book turned into a movie.

This is one of the times I didn’t want to let go of the characters. My attachment to them was tangible.
After spending days listening to these three women, I just didn't want to leave and never hear from them again.
Meet the women:
Osla, A Canadian-born debutant, the smart and pretty socialite who wants more in life. In 1939, her friend introduces her to a young Navy officer, Phillip of Greece and she becomes his girlfriend.
Mab, "Queen Mab", who has fought for an education and wants to find a man who can provide for her and her sister Lucy.
Then, there is Beth. She's already considered a spinster. Her mother treats her poorly and she uses the Bible as a physical punishment. Her self-esteem is non-existent.
All three will work at Bletchley Park, the mansion used as the center of the allied code-breaking during the Second World War. Osla will find a place as a linguist. Mab working with fixing the machines used for code-breaking and Beth as a cryptanalyst.
Sworn to secrecy by the Official Secrets Act of 1939, these three women will become fast friends until there is a betrayal. A betrayal that will leave Beth at Clockwell's sanitarium.
Then in 1947, the year that Phillip marries a Queen, a coded message will be delivered to Osla and Mab asking for help. It is a message that neither woman can dismiss before a third one loses her mind for good.
Kate Quinn does a fantastic job at describing these women, their timelines, and their stories. I was wholeheartedly invested in them. I felt their happiness, their sorrows, and their pain.
The secondary characters were excellent too. Mr. Grey, Harry, Boots, all a great addition to the story.
As I get near the end of my review, I can forget to mention the amazing job that Saskia Maarleveld did as a narrator. She was fantastic. I think this book was perfect as an audiobook. 5 stars to her.
One last thing, and just for those curious minds. Osla Benning was a real person. She was fluent in German and she did work at BP.

Finlay Donovan is going through a rough time. Her ex-husband cheated, got engaged to their realtor and now it’s trying to take custody of their two kids. Finlay's financial situation is dire. She can’t pay her bills!
Finlay is a writer but since her divorce, she has not been able to write a word. She already used the advance she was given. If she doesn't deliver a new book, her suspense writing dream is over and she will lose her kids for sure.
Then while meeting her literary agent at Panera, the woman next to them (Patricia Mickler) started eavesdropping on their conversation and she misinterprets what Finlay and her agent were discussing. Next thing you know, Mrs. Mickler leaves a message with a phone number. When Finlay calls, Patricia is offering fifty thousand dollars in exchange for Finlay disposing of her husband.
This book was unputabledown. It was refreshing. I was entertained throughout!
I was also anxious about Finlay getting over her head. The one saving grace was Vero. I want a Vero in my life. She was the perfect babysitter and friend anyone should have.
I love Finlay too. She was stuck in a hard place and did what she thought needed to be done. Of course, her decisions were mostly wrong and led to even more trouble for her and Vero.
The best part was the ending. I loved it.
Grab this gem when you need a distraction, it will make laugh and hopefully root for her as I did.

I love the Mercyverse and being back with familiar characters and a great story had me smiling.
Did I sweat about what was happening? You better believe it.
A Soul Taker is on the loose. It’s killing people with minimal magic. Mercy has an encounter with it and she knows that the soul taker will be coming for her. Her life is in danger and she is scared but Mercy has evolved. She doesn’t fight alone. She and Adam make a great team. They support each other. Going into battle together is now the norm. So she has a better chance at surviving it, right?
So many awesome things happen in Soul Taken. We get to know more about Wulfe and Sherwood. We learn more about Zee. Tad might be dating someone. Warren is dealing with something he doesn’t want the pack to know (but in the end I thought it was cute). Samuel and Coyote both have a cameo. I felt like it was Christmas and I was getting gifts coming from everywhere. The only thing that would have made it better was a Bran appearance or maybe Anna and Charles.
This is one book that you will enjoy if you have read the series in order. Not that someone couldn’t read it and enjoy it. But I think having the background from prior books makes this book so much sweeter to the fans.
I do wonder what repercussions will come from what happened in this book.

This series has ended with a BANG!
The ending was priceless and memorable.
I can tell you, I think this author is a master of deceit. I was sure who the bad guy was and then poof, I was wrong and then the guy I thought was a good one, was not. Or wait, maybe the bad guy was the bad guy after all or ....so u see my point. A complete mind play.
J. D. Baker does such a fantastic job in this series. The suspense and the writing were phenomenal. At some point, he had me rooting for Anson. A total psychopath but whom I wanted some type of happiness after everything he had to endure. It helps that we get glimpses of Anson as a teenager and the crush he had on Libby helped humanize him for me.
Sam Porter, what can I say? He was a very interesting character. I liked him from the very beginning of the 4MK series. Smart, likable, a nice boss with great powers of deduction. He was still mourning the loss of the only woman he had ever loved. In the Sixth Wicked Child, he gets himself into a corner. He's in deep trouble and I wasn’t sure I could or should trust him.
The secondary characters like Clair, Nash, Agent Poole and Kloz were all very well-developed. They complemented Anson and Sam's in every way possible.
I don't think I want to say anything else because a lot of it could be spoilers.
Thank you so much Hampton Creek Press for my free digital copy of The Sixth Wicked Child.

I love E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G about Happiness for Beginners! I love the growth of the characters, the theme of the book and the wilderness trip. In my opinion, there was not a single scene that didn’t have a reason to be there.
I can’t express how in love I’m with Helen and Jake. Their banter was magnificent. Jake was ultra McDreamy in so many ways. From his sense of humor to his nerdiness. From his accomplishments to his fake insecurities. From his confidence to his personal suffering. I LOVE him.
Helen was such an original character. It was easy to identify with her. If she was embarrassed, I felt embarrassed for her. When she was feeling down, I was feeling down. When she learned to look for happiness on a daily basis, it made me think of all the things that made me happy every day. When her heart broke, my heart broke for her.
What's Happiness for Beginners about?
Helen Carpenter is a 32-year-old teacher. She's had a tough time in the last year since her divorce. As a challenge to improve herself, she has signed up to do a survival trip in the Wyoming mountains. The night before she has to leave, she stops by her brother Duncan's house. He's supposed to petsit for her. She wasn't expecting to find a party going on, her brother nowhere to be found and her brother's best friend, Jake thanking her for driving him to the same survival camp. Here is where I stop telling you more. I would rather you experience this story. I thoroughly enjoy it. I hope this is not the last time we see these characters. Duncan is worthy of getting his own book.
Having read 3 books by Katherine Center in the less than three weeks, I can assure you that I've become a huge fan.

Now we are talking!
Wild Country was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!! It was as good as reading a Meg and Simon's book! It had all the right elements to hook me from the very first chapter.
The timeline of Wild Country is around the time Crispin's brother shows up to the Lakeside Courtyard on Etched in Bone. We get to meet new characters and get to know more of the old ones too.
Jessie and Tobias Walker (mother and son) are Intuits. Jessie gets a "feel" for people while Tobias gets a "feel" for animals. They are both from Prairie Gold but are helping Tolya Sanguinatti, the Vampire who's in charge of Bennett. All humans from Bennett were killed by the Elders after the Human First and Last Movement attacked the Others and Tolya is in charge of repopulating it with the right kind of humans.
Jana Paniccia is hired to work with Bennett's sheriff, Virgil Wolfgard. Virgil has all the right reasons to hate the humans but he understands why they might need Jana. His idea of dealing with women is to put them in jail under a "me time" space.
Barb Debeny is in charge of the pets and the relocation of them to new homes. She has a happy personality and is very friendly, traits which can be confusing to the terra indigene especially to Virgil.
Wild Country was fabulous! I couldn't be happier that we are able to learn more about these characters. I love to read what was going through Tolya's head. Virgil and Jana's interaction with the puppy had me laughing at loud. I like the idea of Jana and Tobias together too. Jessi had so many important interactions, one I didn't see it coming. I wonder what will happen next with this mixed community of terra indigene and humans and who else shows up.
Wild Country was engaging, fast-paced, funny and sad at times. Definitely a winner!!

Going back to the world of our dear Toby is always a pleasure. I have come to love this series. How can I not when Tybalt makes me want to swoon when he says things from his heart. Le Sigh....
After the events which occurred in The Brightest Fell, Toby is trying to avoid discussing what is troubling her, her relationship with Tybalt. She loves the King of Cats and she's not sure how they're going to move forward after what Amandine did to him. Her friends are worried about her and Tybalt but she rather not think about it.
Then, her ex-human boyfriend, Cliff comes knocking on her door. He's looking for their daughter, Gillian. She has gone missing (again!). Toby can't believe someone has taken her. She loved Gillian so much that when Gillian chose to be human and stay with Cliff, Toby walked away believing she would be safe in the human world. But, too many people remember that Toby had Gillian and she's sure a fae is involved in her disappearance.
With the help of her squire and her fetch Mae, she will go looking for Gillian. The search takes her to places where as you can guess, Toby has to fight for her life and she will end up being covered in her own blood. Nothing new there, right? That's mostly why she wears black anyway. There are many close calls and at the same time, I could feel that time was running out for her.
There's a huge plot changer. The reveal is a WOW moment where I wasn't sure if I read it right and I had to go back and reread it. Holy amazing Batman! I just couldn't wrap my head around it. Yet, it makes perfect sense. Not vague enough for you? I guess you're just going to need to read it.
The ending is perfect is an imperfect way. It leaves you with so many open questions and without a way to know the answers.
For all Tybalt fans, the man does make a good entrance. Perfect timing too. It broke my heart to see how hard everything is for him right now. I truly hate Amandine for what she did to him. Despite everything, every heartfelt spoken word by him is beautiful in its deliverance.
I really can't wait to see what happens next. I truly hope to see more of Gillian in the next book.
As always the Luidaeg is amazing in a terrifying way. One of my favorite characters in this series.
I can't finish my review without saying how amazing Seanan McGuire's writing is. It's almost poetic. Her characters are brought to life full of light and darkness.

“It is over.”
What an incredible ride! My heart was thumping in my throat.
It's so easy to hate Angie. In my opinion, there's nothing redeemable about her. Karin tries to humanize her but she fails big time. Angie is full of bad decisions and terrible actions. She enjoys hurting Will in a despicable manner. I certainly don't feel sorry for her. She had a crappy past but she had Will in her life. She CHOSE to push him aside over and over again. Now that Will is with Sara, she's jealous but she has nobody to blame but herself. Will was more than enough to fill her emptiness yet she didn't want him. The things she has done to Will and Sara and the way she thinks about Will makes her a monster.
“Needy bitches like Sara want the white picket fence and the kids in the yard. How would that be, having a bunch of little monsters with your fucked-up genes inside of them? Loser retards like you who can’t read their own fucking names.”
or
“Except for being retarded, he probably would’ve been a star student.”
Ok, I got sidetracked by my complete distaste for this woman. She's a manipulator and a psychopath.
Back to the story.
The team is called to the scene of a crime. An ex-cop is found dead in a soon-to-be new nightclub by a very prominent basketball player, Marcus Rippy. A basketball player who recently was investigated by Will for rape. He got away with good lawyers and by paying the witnesses. Will knows he's guilty but he couldn't prove it since Marcus's wife gave him an alibi.
The nightclub not only has one dead cop. The room is full of type B blood everywhere. Whoever is hurt, must be dying. It's up to the GBI to figure it all out. Hopefully, they are not too late.
If you read my earlier reviews, you know Sara is my favorite character. She's nice, patient and she understands Will. She supports him and she's the only women in his life who doesn't mistreat him.
And who would have thought that Sara could be such a romantic? The things she typed to Tessa were all too cute.
“When he holds me in his arms, all I can think is that I want this to last forever.”
Faith won't let his partner down. She'll do anything to find out about the missing victim. She cares for Will and she knows he's not seeing clearly in this case.
Amanda Wagner, Will's boss, show us her most vulnerable side to date in The Kept Woman. She's concerned about Will and Faith. She gives them great advice. She doesn't want them to make her mistakes.
“Don’t let this job turn you off men, Faith.”
“I picked you. Faith picked you. Sara picked you. Let that be enough. Let yourself accept that you’re worth it.”
The Kept Woman was fantastic. The only problem is that I'm in a huge book hangover. I need another Will Trent book now.
I can't finish my review without talking about Will. A smart guy who doesn't think he deserves love in his life. A part of him is always terrified of being left alone or push away. His dyslexia making him think less of himself. Just one more reason to hate Angie. Sara is perfect for him and I know he knows it.
“I understand that you need time, but you need to understand that I am never, ever going to let you go. Not ever.”

HOW IN THE WORLD DID I MISS THIS SHORT STORY??
OMG!
It's a very short story from Kat's POV. It's the day of her wedding to (my) Daemon Black. The second one if you count the one in Las Vegas. Anyway, it's wonderful and so classic Daemon.
I loved it.
I need Part 2 and I always need more Daemon Black in my life.
“You see cases as puzzles and whatever it is that’s so different in your brain makes it possible for you to solve them the way no one else can.”
Fractured is my favorite book by Karin Slaughter so far and it all has to do with the amazing Will Trent. As a character, he's definitely someone unforgettable.
In this new book, Will Trent and Amanda Wagner, his boss are called into a murder scene. At first, Will thinks this is going to stay under the jurisdiction of the police department but when a girl is found missing and the clock is ticking, Trent will do anything to find her.
Will is not going to be able to do everything by himself. Amanda assigns Faith Mitchell, a detective with the Georgia Police Department to help him out. Due to a past conflict with Amanda's mom, Amanda isn't thrilled to work with Will but she wants to find the lost teenager as much as Will does.
Fractured had all the best components to make it a success. It's told from a dual POV which shines a light into what the main characters are feeling. From it, we learn more about Will's issues. Despite being a very smart man, he still feels threatened by his past and his shortcomings. He tries to disguise them as much as he can. He's used to working alone and when Amanda tells him he has to work with Faith, he doesn't know how to react at the beginning. He makes assumptions and mistakes but not on purpose.
His private life is still a mess. He's engaged to Angie Polanski but from what I read, I think he deserves much better. Thankfully, Angie doesn't have a lot of page time.
“Talk about sloppy seconds. Was there such a thing as sloppy thousandths?”
I like to see Will's vulnerable side and nothing is clearer for me than the love for his dog Betty. He was forced to take her in but now she has become his companion. Will takes better care of her than of himself.
Faith was a great addition to the story. She got pregnant way too young. Her son is in college. She doesn't have a college education but she's a good detective and like Will, she only wants to find Emma Campano before is too late.
I just bought Undone. I'm excited to see what is coming next for Will and Faith.

The Kiss Quotient was marvelous!
So what happens when you're smart, have Asperger's and your parents want you to get married and provide a progeny of grandchildren but you aren't good at social situations or intimacy? Well, you hire an escort!!
Stella Lane is in her thirties. She is very successful and driven. She's an economist and a workaholic. She knows her limitations and having sex is one of them. She believes that if she can conquer her fears of intimacy, she can then be in a relationship.
Michael Pham is paying his mother's hospital bills by using his body as an escort. He's part Vietnamese and part Swedish. In other words, this combination makes him stunning. When his next job takes him to meet Stella, he can't help but be grateful. She fits his hot librarian fantasy to a tee. After their first meeting, he knows he's in trouble. He usually doesn't see a client twice but this time he wants to make an exception.
I love Stella and Michael together. Michael was so patient and understanding. He was also great with his whole family. He had his own insecurities and fears. I liked to think that being with Stella helped him realized he was worth it. Stella was amazing too. She tried her hardest to face her limitations. It takes great courage to try something new when you're so used to your routine and structure.
I can't but fan myself at their sexy times. Let's just say WOW is an understatement.
The Kiss Quotient was a wonderfully crafted novel. It's uniqueness and fascinating characters sets it apart from the rest.
I found myself doing a happy dance after finishing it. The ending was just perfect! I'm crossing my fingers we get to see more characters getting their own books. Mrs. Hoang has plenty of material.
I'm on a Sandra Brown kick. I finished one and started another one book by her. They are addicting!
Envy is as entertaining as all of the other books I have read by her. The suspense, intrigue, and twists are classic Sandra Brown.
This novel begins when Maris Matherly-Reed receives a new manuscript for her review. She's a well-known editor and part owner of a very famous publishing house in NYC. She has a great relationship with her dad who opened the publishing house decades ago. She's married to Noah Reed, a famous writer who's now working for the publishing company as well.
Maris can't stop thinking about the manuscript. She contacts the writer P.M.E. but he's rude and seems unapproachable. She knows she can't pass up this opportunity and she decides to travel south and convince P.M.E to sign up with them. P.M.E aka Parker Evans's novel could become the next hit. It's the tale of two friends who had a rivalry. They both aspired to become more. Jealousy and envy will prevent one of them from succeeding.
When Maris meets Parker, she is taken by him. Behind the rude facade is a man who's in pain. He's also angry and she can tell he's keeping things from her. His manuscript is also captivating as the man who's writing it. Then, a terrible chain of events forces Maris to open her eyes and to realize what has been in front of her eyes all this time. But, is it too late???
I loved Envy. Both main characters felt real to me. Their emotions jumped out of the pages and swirled all around me. Prepare yourself to be sucked into this novel without a chance to stop. I was compelled to continue in a rapid spiral to the end. Unputabledown to say the least. A great book with a great plotline! Yes, some of the twists I saw coming but they were done right. Sandra Brown's writing is addicting like I mentioned at the beginning of my review.

5 swoon-worthy Fangs!
I love Kate Meader's Hot in Chicago series. She writes romance just the way I like it. Her characters have a sizzling hot chemistry, they can be funny and sweet too.
Her Chicago Rebels bring us new hot guys to fall in love with. They are not firefighters (miss you Engine 6) instead they are hockey stars. Need I say more?
Three half sisters are forced to come together after they inherited ownership of the Chicago Rebels, a failing hockey team. Their father, Cliff Chase was a piece of work and he was tougher on Harper, who's the main character in Irresistible You.
"There is no room for sentimentality in this game."
Harper Chase has wanted to take over the Chicago Rebels for years but her father never thought she was ready. After he passes, she discovers that she doesn't have all the power. Her decisions have to be approved by her two sisters, Violet and Isobel. The sisters have been estranged and Isobel and Harper found out about Violet just a couple of years ago. This could be a recipe for disaster. Harper needs someone to make the Chicago Rebels come together. Acquiring "Jinx" to help the team is first on her to-do list. Just two problems. One, Remy is not happy with his current situation and second, Harper wasn't counting of feeling attracted to him.
"Me want Cajun."
Remy "Jinx" DuPre knows he wants a chance at the Stanley Cup but joining the Rebels is not going to help him. He needs to move into a team who has a shot at winning. He's tired of being passed around and losing his chance at the trophy. He just needs to convince his new boss to let him go. Although, the more he interacts with her, the less he wants to leave her.
Irresistible You pushed all my happy triggers. Harper and DuPre were great together. Their banter and chemistry were off the charts! Couldn't help but falling in love with both. Harper was a true businesswoman. She was a hard worker despite her father wanting her to fail. Remy was adorable with his family and nieces. He was also super sexy and a great team member. He tried to guide the rest of the team to make better choices and he brought them hope.
I'm looking forward to the next few books in the series. The best part is that the other two sisters, Isabel and Violet are already likable and we know who their love interests are. Bring it on, Vadim and Bren!

“One thing I can tell you for sure is this: we only regret what we don't do in life.”
I have only one word to describe Kristin Hannah's work: POWERFUL.
Over the years, I have heard how good of an author she is but until you picked and read one of her books, you really don't have ANY idea.
Firefly Lane is my first book by her (sad, isn't it?) and I will never forget it. In my honest opinion, it's a powerful (there goes that word again) display of women's fiction.
Firefly Lane tells the story of two girls, both dealing with their own pain, who bring their guard down long enough to become best friends. This friendship continues through its ups and downs over the span of three decades.
Kate Mullarkey is the shy girl, with thick glasses and a retainer. She feels lonely and uncool. She wishes things were different. Her mother seems overbearing and things at school couldn't be worse. Her closest friends have moved forward to boys and parties, leaving Kate behind.
Tully Hart has had her heart broken by her mother Dorothy "Cloud" too many times to count. When she was just a small child, Cloud dropped her at her grandmother's house and didn't return for years. At fourteen, Tully has become a beautiful and popular girl and Cloud is back to take Tulla with her. This time, they made it all the way to Firefly Lane where Tully will have to start a new school and make new friends. But, Tully is starving for the real thing, she wants to feel loved. She wants to matter. She doesn't want to be left behind again.
Kate and Tully's world come together just when they needed each other the most. From the moment they promised to be friends, they are part of each other's lives. Through high school, dating, college, work, marriage and tragedy, they will be each other's support system. The reader follows them throughout the '70s, 80's, 90's and 2000's with the (amazing) music, pop culture, politics and events that marked the world as their background.
“To make real friends you have to put yourself out there. Sometimes people will let you down, but you can't let that stop you. If you get hurt, you just pick yourself up, dust off your feelings, and try again.”
I will say that the last part of this book made me a sobbing mess but I couldn't put this audio down. Through cleaning, shopping, and driving, Kate and Tully followed me. I was right there with them. I felt their pain and sorrow.

Perfect ending to the story arc!
The main theme of the book is how much human to keep? Which could be interpreted as: Is the Terra Indigene at risk of becoming more human? or is all humanity on the brink of getting eradicated from this world because some humans overstep their boundaries?
The Elders, the most powerful Others, are almost ready to make a decision about Thaisia but before they do it, two Elders leave the wild country to watch over the Courtyard. The Elders are intrigued about Simon and Meg. Their curiosity has been picked. They want to know how a blood prophet has changed the dynamics in the Courtyard and their leader Simon Wolfguard.
“You would kill the sweet blood not-Wolf?”
When detective Montgomery's brother Cyrus arrives at the Courtyard unexpectedly, everyone can smell trouble. The Others know he's dangerous but the Elders want to learn more about him. They want to know how one human can create problems for both human and Terra Indigene interacting together.
To say the least, Cyrus is definitely a rotten apple. He's nothing like Montgomery or his mother Twyla. Twyla has become like a grandmother to most of the Courtyard. Even the Others have a hard time denying her things. She has taken special affection towards Skippy. A certain scene involving both had me crying.
Etched in Bone has the same winning recipe. The characters are all important. Yes, Simon and Meg's relationship is the glue that keeps these two worlds together (and I love them both) but I'm as much invested in the human pack, the Others living in the Courtyard, the blood prophets, the Intuit people, Prairie Gold and the characters living in Great Island to name a few.
I'm sad this part of the Others' world has come to an end. It's hard for me to part ways with so many great characters and I can only hope we get to see some of them in the next book.

Fabolous beginning!
When Meg and Simon's arc was done, I was so sad to see one of my favorite series EVER come to an end. So many of the characters had endeared themselves into my heart but Anne Bishop knew she had gold in her hands (or I should say in her brain) and she was willing to continue the series to the great happiness of this reader.
I have anxiously been waiting for Lake Silence, a continuation of the same world with different main characters. My first shock was that the main character is nothing like I thought she was going to be. Next, the main three characters are all human. So different than life in the Lakeside Courtyard!
When a woman named Vicki DeVine obtains a property, The Jumble in Lake Silence as part of her divorce, she pours all of her energy, resources, and money into fixing the resort to open it up to the public. Now, the property is in a town not controlled by humans but by the Others. Vicki has been careful about following the rules and so far she only has one guest, Aggie Crowe. Soon after, Vicki discovers that Aggie is not human. When a dead body is found close to her place, and detectives come asking questions, Vicki's anxiety and distress escalate. Thankfully, she will get the help of many new friends: humans and non-humans too.
I was completely lost in the story. I loved Vicki, her sense of humor, her innate understanding of how to handle the Others without trying. In a way, she exudes the same innocence that Meg had. As with Meg, the Others take an unusual interest in Vicki and her protection becomes a priority.
"he was so yummy. And really, what's a pint or two of blood between a girl and her attorney when she gets to have her neck nibbled by that mouth."
What was not to like? I enjoyed it all! Love the new characters and the plotline. In the end, Julian Farrow, Officer Wayne Grimshaw, Aiden, Robert "Cougar" Panthera, Conan Bearguard, Ilya and Natasha Sanguinati, Ineke Xavier and her family, The lady of the Lake, the ponies, all contributed to the success of the story.
I wanted the Others to grab the bad humans and destroy them. Yes, I was clamoring for the Terra Indigene type of justice.
"So they're what, the world's hitmen?
I'm dying to read the next book in this series. I hope a year goes by fast.
