I really liked the first book, "Days at the Morisaki Bookshop #1," so I wanted to read this one too. It’s a heartwarming story that resonates with anyone who loves books and bookshops. I found this book better than his first one. The story flows smoothly like water. It's about friendships, love, people who love books, and how everything is connected somehow. The book shows how books can bring people together and make them feel better during hard times. It also reminds us of the special feeling of books and how being around other people who love books can help us heal. Reading this book might inspire you to visit more bookshops. P.S. This book is so touching, it moved me to tears.

Akutagawa Prize (1992) Winner. "The Bridegroom Was a Dog" by Yōko Tawada is about a schoolteacher who tells a strange story about a dog marrying a woman. This fantasy starts affecting her real life. The book is like a mix of classic fairy tales and what happens in regular life. It tells a story about figuring out who you are and what people expect from you. Wow, this novella is really weird and interesting! This book made me realize how much I miss Murakami's novels.

I read the novel before, and discovering the graphic novel made me want to reread it. A visually stunning graphic novel adaptation that is captivating, thought-provoking, and a delight to read. The novel shows that the real treasure wasn't just the gold but the knowledge and experiences Santiago gained during his journey. Hope you like it too.

Spring Garden won the Akutagawa Prize, a prestigious Japanese literary award. Taro, a man alone, lives in an old Tokyo apartment building that will be torn down. He becomes friends with his neighbour, Nishi, they look at an old photo book of their building and a special house nearby. 3.5⭐ This story is a little boring. Akutagawa Prize Winner. Rich businessman named Abrams is searching for a mysterious writer named Tomoyuki. Tomoyuki can write incredible stories in any language they encounter. Abrams spends a lot of money trying to find Tomoyuki, but the writer always escapes just before getting caught. The story is like a tricky puzzle with many surprises. It makes you ponder about language, travel, and the impact of stories. This story feels quite surreal.

A book with a cover as inviting as butter – rich yellow and beautifully designed – how could I resist? We always choose butter but not margarine to cook. Asking a woman who loves to cook for a recipe is to strike them in their weakest, most unprotected spot. I baked cakes using this recipe from my auntie. It's a French 'four quarter' pound cake, made with equal parts egg, flour, butter, and granulated sugar (150 grams each). A journalist (Rika Machida), interviews a food-loving serial killer (Manako Kajii), but the focus is on recipes, not crimes, blurring the lines between them. This book is really well-written, but it is quite lengthy. If you have the time to dedicate to a long read, I highly recommend it.

I rated this manga book 5 stars because I loved the short stories. While the art style is not necessarily my usual preference, the artwork itself is incredibly expressive. The Big Brother is watching you! Another must-read classic 1984 that I have wanted to read for so long. While I won't tell you all about the story or its ideas, I can say that 1984 made me really appreciate how precious freedom is. It's not something we just get for free, we have to work to keep it! That's why it's so important to stand up for our rights, all the time. And when things are good, we shouldn't forget how lucky we are to live in a free world.

I purchased the paperback edition a few years ago and placed it on my bookshelf. I attempted to read it once, but I found the initial few pages to be somewhat dull. This book is among the ten books that every law student should read, according to websites. Fortunately, I discovered this graphic novel and the illustrations are stunning. Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel To Kill a Mockingbird is a timeless classic that imparts valuable lessons about compassion, empathy, and the importance of upholding what is right. "Mockingbirds do nothing except produce music for us to enjoy. They don't devour people's gardens, don't build nests in corn cribs, they do nothing except sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." The novel prompts us to consider prejudice, integrity, justice, innocence, and the conflict between good and evil.

A second world war story about the Imperial Japanese Army in Papua New Guinea. "We'll deliver your bones to your wife." A soldier cut off the remaining four fingers and tossed them in the fire. Imagine a war where everyone's sick and scared, and instead of sending home brave soldiers, you send just one tiny bone, like a finger bone. Imagine a war not with big tanks and loud guns, but with sickness and sadness. It shows that even when things feel hopeless, we can still be kind and find ways to make the world less scary. It is a short story that makes us aware of the dark side of the war.

This is the 9th book by Keigo Higashino to be translated into English. Out of his entire Japanese books, 10 books have been made available in English. Another of his new translated books, "The Final Curtain: A Mystery (The Kyoichiro Kaga Series, 4)," is scheduled for release in December 2023. I am captivated by his writing style, which keeps readers guessing until the very end. His stories are consistently fascinating and packed with unexpected twists, blending between science and uncertainty. I try to avoid discussing his fantastic storytelling here. I like to share what I learned from this book: "Often, in order to find the answer, you need time to grow first. That's why we apply ourselves and learn as we go. " Advice from Professor Manabu Yukawa to Kyohei.

Another international bestseller book by Keigo Higashino. I am trying to read all the English versions of his books. It is a mystery novel that revolves around the death of a prominent businessman in Tokyo. The story mentioned the Seven Lucky Gods circuit and the culture of folding 1,000 paper cranes to pray for health. The murder was in Tokyo’s Nihonbashi district, which is named for the bridge, which also serves as the kilometer-zero marker for Japan’s national highway network. I am currently searching for this movie "The Wings of the Kirin" 2011.

I gave it 3.5 stars. Dragon Palace is a collection of 8 short stories that mainly revolve around mythology, surrealism, magic, and animal transformations. Although the stories can be challenging to read and may require an open mind, they are always rewarding. The fantasy stories may not be everyone's cup of tea, and whether you enjoy them or not will depend on your personal preferences. Personally, I find these types of stories not easy to read, but they are still memorable. I loved her book "Strange Weather in Tokyo."

The book described sounds like a heartwarming and encouraging read. I am particularly drawn to the character of Mrs. Komachi, the librarian who helps her patrons find their way forward. She sounds like a wise and compassionate woman who recommended some books and little gifts for the visitors. It is a reminder that we are all capable of great things. We can all find support from others on our journey through life.

I read Chen Ho-Kei's 13.67 in Cantonese because the book is full of Hong Kong slang. I found that reading the book in Cantonese helped me to better understand the author's intent. The book is a crime fiction and historical fiction that tells the story of Hong Kong from the 1960s to the present day. It is divided into six novellas, each of which tells a different story. I enjoyed the book and thought it was a well-written and thought-provoking exploration of Hong Kong's history and culture. I would recommend it to anyone interested in Hong Kong or crime fiction. I noticed I read Chinese words slowly. I hope I can improve it.

A dramatic mystery with a twisty plot. The creativity of the author always makes me surprised when solving crime cases. Keigo Higashino is a good storyteller. A complicated mystery about many people involved and related to a series of murder cases and crimes. You can see the complex characters and well-developed. The ending of the story is ambiguous. I read it a few times, especially in the last few pages. It is left up to us to think! No easy answer to Good or Evil?
