Finlay Donovan is a stressed-out single-mom of two and struggling novelist. She is overheard discussing the plot of her new suspense novel with her agent over lunch, she’s mistaken for a contract killer, and inadvertently accepts an offer to dispose of a problem husband.
That actually kinda happened to me; not once. Not even two but THREE times. Though I was not made an offer to get rid of anyone or accidentally accept said offer. But I have been overheard talking about the most random things, and three times I have been asked what's going on. (I have a bad habit of speaking about myself as we and accidentally inserting myself in the tv series I watch... you can probably imagine how that goes.)
I actually didn't like Finlay that much. But I also did not hate her which I tend to do with a lot of main characters. I just found it off-putting how all the men just fell for her immediately.
Vero on the other hand? The love of my life. Also, as a Finnish person, Vero as a nickname is so bad because in Finnish it means a tax. It took me a while to get used to it. But I loved her, truly a ride or die.
And like, people kept telling me this is funny. And it was! The humour just didn't really work for me and it took me until about 60% to finally get into it. But still, it was funny because it's so unrealistic and silly.
Will be continuing this series as soon as my library gets the next book! *squints at my library* why do y'all only get the first book in every series?

Also relatable, I was so scared of the dark when I was child that I used to sleep with the light on for a long time. Even now I have glow in the dark stars on my wall so it never gets really dark in my room.
Super cute book, though definitely not as good as the first book was just incredible!! ...more

Also I did listen the audiobook read by Ahti Jokinen so that may have influenced my opinion a bit because in my humble opinion he is the greatest audiobook reader of all time. He could read me the menu and I would still be in awe. (If you haven’t listened to the Moomin books he has read y’all definitely should!)
Anyways, yeah good, short and funny book. I like good, short and funny books!
Was expecting to hate it but I am always delighted to be proven wrong when it comes to books! ...more

I have hard time understanding what genre this book was. A cozy mystery? A rom-com? But whatever it is, it’s hilarious.

It’s so over the top that I couldn’t stop giggling throughout the book. And yet, the ending left me feeling quite “what?”.
I absolutely adored the family and the bride at the wedding. What I didn’t enjoy as much and thought was little boring was the romantic interest. ...more
