Bill was born on the first of April 1946. His mother had fallen pregnant with him when she was sixteen. At the time his mother was working as a domestic for Mrs Wilson the Protestant widow who lived in a big house a few miles out of town. When everyone else would’ve turned their backs on his mother Mrs Wilson did the opposite. Mrs Wilson took Bill under her wing as she had no children of her own. As Bill got older Mrs Wilson gave him small jobs to do and she would help him with his reading.
Small Things Like These is a novella, but it sure is a powerful read and one I enjoyed from start to finish. Highly recommended....more
