I enjoyed this book, but I did find it a little slow in parts and other parts were quite interesting. The book does give you more of an insight into what goes on behind the scenes of filming the show.
Overall this is an enjoyable and informative book to read and I’m glad I read it. I did hear that there will be another TV series coming which I assume will be in 2025. Something to look forward to for those who have enjoyed the series. Recommended. ...more

I honestly never expected to love this book as much as I did. I read this book in a few sittings, yes it was that good. I have added this book to my favourites shelf and if I could’ve given it more than five stars I would’ve because it truly deserves it (in my opinion).
I’m going to keep this review short cause my review really won’t do this book the justice it deserves. This book was recommended to me by a friend who said very little about it only that she enjoyed it. When I read what it was about I thought this wasn’t my kind of book, but after reading just a couple of chapters I was hooked and fully immersed in the story. I took an immediate liking to seventy-year-old Tova Sullivan. And who couldn’t fall in love with Marcellus the giant Pacific octopus? Captivating and beautifully written. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED....more

Dogs are simply a gift we do not deserve. In this book, there are fourteen canines that are all amazing for one reason or another like Frankie the German Shepherd who walked 4000 kilometres to help his owner recover from a drug addiction.
I found the history of the kelpie dog in this book rather interesting and informative as well as the history of the town of Caserton in southwest Victoria. The first dog to be called a kelpie was born on Warrock Station, just north of Caserton in 1872. Her parents were two collie-like sheepdogs descendants of dogs brought to Australia from Britain in the early parts of the the nineteenth century.
I LOVED reading all of these stories, but the one that truly broke my heart was Grover the Border Collie. Aussie author Laura Greaves has once again written a beautiful book of wonderful dog stories including interesting history. Highly recommended. ...more

Sharron Luttrell is still grieving and mourning the loss of her family dog and anyone who has lost a pet knows how hard and emotional this time can be. When Sharron discovers a weekend puppy training program she knows this is just what she needs. After reading how the program worked she was certain this would be good for her and her family, but convincing her husband might be another matter. After explaining that the puppy was to be picked up on a Friday and then returned on Sunday and what they needed to do whilst it was in their care her husband agreed and before they knew it they were picking up their first puppy and that was when the fun began.
I LOVED this book from start to finish which I knew I would. It takes a special kind of person or family to take on such a big commitment along with time, patience, love and understanding. Weekends With Daisy is a beautifully written memoir that pulled at my heartstrings, but at the same time, I especially enjoyed learning about the “NEADS” Puppy-in-Training program. No one knows where Runt the stray dog came from or how he came to be in Upson Downs. He would roam the streets scavenging from bins behind shops like the butcher or baker. People were constantly shooing him away then one day he met Annie whilst she was eating her lunch at school over by the oval. And this was the start of what would become a special bond between Annie and Runt.
Runt by Aussie author Craig Silvey is a beautiful and heartwarming story with laugh-out-loud moments. This is a middle-grade book, but it’s a book that can and has been enjoyed by any age. I must also make mention the illustrations throughout this book they are absolutely beautiful along with the cover. This book deserves five stars and more in my opinion. I LOVED IT. This is not only a book about Kelpie working dogs, but it also gives us an insight into the day-to-day running of a working farm. After reading this book you have a real appreciation for the tireless hard work that goes into running a working farm. It’s not for everyone, but those who take it on do a remarkable job and most of them wouldn’t have it any other way.

She knew what it felt like to be in constant fear, but she never felt or understood love.
For the first time in a long time, Melody was excited as she was going out onto the Port River to visit dolphins with one of her university lecturers, Dr Mike Bosley. It’s on this trip she first sees Jock the dolphin. Melody can see straight away there is something wrong with his dorsal fin. Mike tells Melody that he’s been tangled up in fishing line which has cut into his flesh when he was a baby and the line disfigured his fin as he was growing.
Melody wonders why Jock is on his own and not with the other dolphins seeing as they live in pods and are social creatures. What Melody also didn’t know was that her connection with this dolphin would teach her so much including finding inner peace and a connection to the natural world.
A Dolphin Called Jock by Aussie author Melody Horrill is an emotional and touching memoir and one I will never forget. There were times when I had tears in my eyes, other times I would have a smile on my face and a lot of the time I just wanted to give Melody a hug. Melody’s father was a violent and brutal man whose actions impacted and scarred the whole family. This is the fifth book I’ve read for this year (2023) and so far this is my favourite for the year. The relationship between Melody and Jock is unlike any other and I’m so pleased that I read this book. Thank you for sharing your story with us, Melody. Something tells me whatever you want to do next you will succeed and it will be a wonderful journey as you are a remarkable woman. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. ...more

Teddy had been neglected and traumatized and his future was looking very bleak. It is thanks to Barby’s animal shelter where many unwanted dogs like Teddy get their second chance in the hope of finding their forever home.
I loved this story, but I knew I would as soon as I saw the cover that I was going to enjoy it and I was right. It takes a special kind of person to do what Barby does because running an animal shelter is a full-time job and it’s also an emotional one. With a pandemic that has taken a toll on people's lives. Countries have been forced into lock down, leading to job losses, including Andrew's.
As the bills continued to arrive, Andrew was unsure what he would do next. When he posted a short video of his two Labrador dogs for his Twitter followers, the response he received was phenomenal. Andrew and his wife Caroline couldn't believe how a brief video of their beloved Olive and Mabel could get so much attention, but they did.
As we follow them through their adventures, we, the reader, are embarked on a journey like no other. It is truly a beautifully written book and I know that every animal lover will enjoy it just as much as I did. Highly recommended. ...more

Throughout this book, we get more of an understanding of how Noel connects with animals on a deeper level and his love and caring of all animals that he comes across is extraordinary.
Having watched many episodes of the Supervet I just had to read this book and I’m so pleased I did. This book was so interesting and at times a little sad, but for many animals that come to Noel they are given a second chance because they had been deemed beyond help by others. There was quite a lot of medical information in this book which was hard going at times, but apart from that, it was an extremely well-written memoir which I have no hesitation in highly recommending. ...more

The dog she was called out for was in such a bad way it could hardly stand. This dog had been so deadly treated with cigarette burn scars and malnourished that you could see all of his ribs sticking out. This poor dog was in such a bad way no one knew if he would survive the night.
A heartbreaking story which will touch the hearts of all those who read this story. ...more
