I’m so pleased I finally read it and also pleased to say I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. I’m not a fan of magical realism and time travel, so when I saw this book had both I was unsure if it was for me, but I’m happy to report it was.
Ashley Poston did an amazing job in writing this book so much so that I was fully invested in the story from the beginning right through to the last page. Highly recommended....more

I Mr Wigg by Inga Simpson is a beautifully written book. A heartwarming, moving story that will stay with you long after you’ve turned the last page.
I loved the way the history of the fruit trees was written into this story and I could easily picture Mr Wigg keeping busy in the orchard then cooking and preserving his produce whilst watching the cricket when it was on TV. I loved this book and have no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone who enjoys a beautiful and well-written story....more

Jelena Dokic started playing tennis at the age of six years old. I’d like to say her childhood was a happy one, but after reading this book it was far from it. Jelena experienced physical abuse, mental abuse and public embarrassment throughout her childhood and tennis career all of which no child should have to go through. The torture she went through with her father nearly killed her.
Many a time when Jelena was playing tennis she was in pain from the physical abuse her father had given her, but somehow she still managed to play great tennis. Winning matches you would’ve thought it would make her father happy, but that was not the case there seemed to be no pleasing him. Sadly many people knew what Jelena was going through, but they chose to ignore it and sometimes Jelena would make out everything was okay because she was scared of her father. How anyone could turn a blind eye to a child being abused is beyond me and I just can’t fathom it or get my head around it.
Jelena says she doesn’t hate her father, but she hates what he did. The title of this book is spot on because Jelena is truly unbreakable and she is one incredibly strong woman this is her story and what a remarkable story it is. Over the years I have seen Jelena play tennis when it was on TV, but I had no idea what she had gone through and after reading this book I will never forget her. I don’t read a lot of memoirs, but I am so pleased I read this one because it shows no matter what life throws at you or how badly treated you are you can still overcome it all and be the best person you can and achieve anything you want. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. ...more

It’s Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han is the second book in the Summer series. I have been enjoying this series. I must admit Belly is a character who has gotten on my nerves at various times throughout the story. But in saying that I can see that she might be a character that many might relate to. The story alternates between past and present which is well-written and easy to follow. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Recommended. ...more

He keeps busy with work on his farm at Winters Hill. But apart from working on the farm, Nick keeps to himself and has very little to do with most people.
Tash and her brother Alex took over Gumnut Bakery in White Gum Creek. Tash was determined to keep the bakery alive and make it a profitable business again. In her grandmother's day, the bakery did a good trade, but over the years several of the local farmers had gone broke and many young had moved to bigger towns.
Tash couldn’t help but feel sorry for Nick after he’d lost his wife she certainly had seen a huge difference in him which was understandable. Tash hoped that Nick could start living his life again and she hoped in time a little of the old Nick would return. Can time help heal Nick or would he continue to live like a hermit?
White Gum Creek is a delightful heartwarming story with characters you can relate to. And I liked the names of some of the places in this book like Magpie Lane and Gumnut Baker. An enjoyable read and one that I have no hesitation in recommending....more

It had been a while since her husband had passed away and Grace decided it was time to move on and make a life of her own, but trying to get support from her daughters would not be easy. But in her heart, Grace knew this was the right thing to do for herself and her children were going to have to come to terms with it and hopefully in time they would understand.

I honestly never expected to love this book as much as I did. I read this book in a few sittings, yes it was that good. I have added this book to my favourites shelf and if I could’ve given it more than five stars I would’ve because it truly deserves it (in my opinion).
I’m going to keep this review short cause my review really won’t do this book the justice it deserves. This book was recommended to me by a friend who said very little about it only that she enjoyed it. When I read what it was about I thought this wasn’t my kind of book, but after reading just a couple of chapters I was hooked and fully immersed in the story. I took an immediate liking to seventy-year-old Tova Sullivan. And who couldn’t fall in love with Marcellus the giant Pacific octopus? Captivating and beautifully written. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED....more

Sadly his addiction affected not only his health, but it also impacted his work, family and relationships. Unfortunately, I did find this quite repetitive at times which had me losing interest.
