My two latest cameras to my collection.

214 Minolta Vectis 3000 APS (1999)

One of the first pictures I took with my first camera.

Helios 44M-7 at F11. I know what you are going to say - it's the photographer who's dreaming, not the camera. Well, in my dream it is the camera having dreams. It is a dream of revelation, of revealing what is hidden, of making the unseen visible. I must treat my camera with respect.

I`m planing an Shooting-Session for the next view days and my tiny little helpers preparing the handles for the camera. First of all they need to get the Anchors into the right position. :)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ich möchte die kommenden Tage eine größere Foto-Tour machen. Und meine kleinen Helferlein sind bereits fleissig am vorbereiten. Die peak design Anchors müssen in Position gebracht werden. :)

The Radcliffe Camera (colloquially known as the "Rad Cam" or "The Camera"; from Latin camera, meaning 'room') is a building of Oxford University, England, designed by James Gibbs in neo-classical style and built in 1737–49 to house the Radcliffe Science Library. It is sited to the south of the Old Bodleian, north of the Church of St Mary the Virgin, and between Brasenose College to the west and All Souls College to the east. The Radcliffe Camera's circularity, its position in the heart of Oxford, and its separation from other buildings make it the focal point of the University of Oxford, and as such it is almost always included in shorthand visual representations of the university.

The library's construction and maintenance was funded from the estate of John Radcliffe, a physician who left £40,000 upon his death in 1714. According to the terms of his will, construction only began in 1737, although the intervening period saw the complex purchase of the site. The exterior was complete in 1747 and the interior finished by 1748, although the library's opening was delayed until 13 April 1749.

Upon its completion, Francis Wise was appointed as its first librarian. Until 1810, the library housed books covering a wide range of subjects, but under George Williams it narrowed its focus to the sciences. Williams brought the library from a state of neglect up to date, although by 1850 the Radcliffe Library still lagged behind the Bodleian. It was at this point that Henry Wentworth Acland, then librarian, laid out plans for the Radcliffe Library building to merge with the university and the library's collection of books to be moved to the newly constructed Radcliffe Science Library, which were accepted by the library's trustees and the university. It was at this point that the building became known as the Radcliffe Camera, serving as a reading room for the Bodleian.

The Smile on Saturday topic is “Camera.” My daughter created a gift for me, incorporating this little decoration in framing one of my photographs.

A pale swallowtail, hiding its face in columbine. Got this one along NF 28 as it runs parallel to Pinto Creek in Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

my new homemade pinhole camera!. I had a gift card to barnes and noble and found how to make your own pinhole camera. this was a challenge to get the shots right and hopefully it will improve my whole outlook on photography.

The camera sees more than the eye,

so why not make use of it?

Testing the robustness of my A99. It still works - the moisture in the damp grass didn't affect it at all.

There has been some technical changes taking place over the last 100 years . Heres a few cameras from the beginning and the end of that time frame ..

The earliest camera featured here is an English Thorton & Pickard 'Imperial' triple extension , half plate camera c 1900 . It is fitted with a f8 lens . This camera comes with five plates and its own original wooden tripod . Its in fine working condition but I have never used it .

The other two cameras are my current work horses , the DSLR Nikon D90 purchased in 2009 and still giving good service and the daily little pocket rocket , the Sony DSC WX350 .

Estou aos poucos tirando a poeira da minha câmera. : )

Here is the first shot from my new camera.

I got it yesterday and have been playing with it today. I think it will take a while before I fully get the hang of it. I will continue posting photos from the Olympus until I have fully figured it out. Wish me luck. Any tips will be gratefully received.
