Clover quietly opened inside Clover and the Bee in early 2023, bringing natural wines and a selection of delectable snacks to Webster Groves, Missouri. Known as a gathering spot for breakfast and lunch, the space transforms into an elegant wine bar at night with a menu of small plates such as candied pecans; warm marinated Castelvetrano olives; chips and caviar dip; and sweet bites like tarts, budino and tiramisu. The food complements the menu of natural wines curated by the Olive + Oak hospitality team. The mood is unpretentious, with staff eager to help you pick your next favorite bottle.

When it opened in late December 2022, Grüv Bistro & Wine Bar instantly became a community favorite in downtown Belleville, Illinois. Though wine bars are stereotypically seen as high-end, Grüv made a name for itself by being approachable. All are welcome, no matter how much they know about wine. With craft cocktails, inventive food specials, live music and a heated patio, this Illinois wine bar is well worth the visit.

Little Fox in Fox Park is known for many things – its stunning food to stellar hospitality, to name a few – but one of the restaurant's hallmarks is its approach to wine. The bar program is wide-ranging and unpretentious, and the highly experienced staff relishes helping guests find exactly what they're looking for. Meet over a glass, or make it an evening; it's not difficult to do with a seasonal menu of snacks, sharable small plates and larger entrées.

Robust is a mainstay in Webster Groves, Missouri, offering guests an escape from the day in a relaxed setting. In the summer, the patio can't be beat. In the winter, cozy up with a friend over a glass at the elegantly lit bar, or sink into one of the velvet chairs that line the space. Robust is built on wine education, and certified sommelier and co-owner Stanley Browne and his team will be happy to help with wine pairings and finding new vino to explore. Designed to pair well with the wine list, the menu is a mix of small plates and larger entrées with a few desserts thrown in for good measure.

Sasha's Wine Bar is a gem inside and out. We love the ambiance of the enchanting, plant-filled patio, and the interior is effortlessly chic with wall-to-wall wine shelves, warm wood elements and exposed ductwork. The menu offers a long line of standout wines, from sparkling red to orange wines, along with NA offerings, signature cocktails and local beer and cider. If you're wondering which location to visit, both are equally magical.

West of Ballwin in Ellisville is Veritas Gateway to Food & Wine, which functions as half wine shop, half New American-style restaurant. What makes Veritas stand out is how well the spot does both food and drink: For instance, the restaurant staff does its own seasonal pig roast; meanwhile, you can find some rare vintages on the wine side. Veritas selects a new batch of wines every week for its customers to try by the glass, and it also offers a wine tasting for guests from 6 to 8 p.m. each night during dinner service.

Adorned with crystalline chandeliers and glossy black-and-white film prints, Videira Wine Shop & Bar is luxurious without feeling intimidating. The old-meets-new aesthetic stems from the Midtown neighborhood as a whole – co-owner Mykel McIntosh was inspired by the area's historic past and increasingly vibrant present. The menu includes the wine and food McIntosh enjoys herself, including Californian, Italian and Spanish wines; signature and NA cocktails; and an intentional food menu of dry-cured duck breast, artisanal cheese and ice cream. Duck into the cozy room on the left to shop Videira's full retail selection of wines.

Some consider Wine Down Cafe to be a hidden gem in South City, and once you're among the historic brick buildings and sprawling neighborhood parks, you'll understand why the spot is so beloved by the Carondelet community. Whether your go-to order is a bubbly Lambrusco, a glass of riesling that's on the sweeter side or a sparkling rosé, Wine Down's small but carefully selected wine menu has a little bit of everything – plus, the food offerings are just as artfully crafted.

A skip and a jump away from Lafayette Square Park sits Winnie's Wine Bar. Named after co-owner Wendy Hamilton's childhood nickname, Winnie's offers wine from all over the globe, including Portugal, Chile, South Africa and New Zealand. The space is inspired by the owners' worldly travels with décor like a 3D map and a lineup of clocks that show local time in various wine regions. In keeping with the jet-setting theme, the menu focuses on wine flights (get it?) which allow guests to taste a diverse group of wines in one visit.
