ITV soap fans have been left feeling "disappointed" by a recent announcement. As the Euros 2024 football competition continues, Coronation Street and Emmerdale fans have had their beloved soaps dropped from the schedule in favour of the sport.

The broadcasters have announced a number of TV scheduling changes since the UEFA European Football Championships began on June 14. Coverage has taken over for the last few weeks, with the competition set to come to an end on July 14.

Today, ITV shared a soap schedule for the upcoming week, as they wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "Wondering where to find the Soaps this week? We've got you covered!"

The broadcasters attached a TV schedule showing that Emmerdale would air at 7pm till 8pm on Monday, July 8, with Corrie following straight after from 8pm to 9pm. On Tuesday, July 9, Emmerdale will air for 30 minutes, starting at 7.30pm, with Coronation Street following at 8pm until 9pm.

No soaps will air on ITV on Wednesday, July 10 but Emmerdale fans can still get their fix as it is set to air on Thursday, July 11, for an hour at 7.30pm. It will also air for a 30 minute episode from 7pm on Friday, July 12.

But fans were not happy with the update as they complained about missing out on episodes of their favourite soaps. One user quizzed: "Only two Corrie’s? Why can’t football be on different channel on Friday? BBC changed EastEnders!"

Another added: "That means we have missed three hours of Corrie by the end of the week. When will we catch up?"

A third user penned: "How come Emmerdale is always on...but #Corrie is taken off.?? We are missing so many #Corrie epsiodes (only 2 on a week)....when will we catch up?"

Meanwhile, another added: "Disappointed that the schedules still aren't returning to normal. How long before it's back to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday? #Corrie".

Last week Emmerdale fans were left seething after the ITV soap was replaced for a different reason. On July 5 the broadcasters chose to prolong their Evening News coverage in light of the general election results.

Originally slated for a 8.30pm airing, Emmerdale was unceremoniously replaced, although Coronation Street maintained its 9pm slot.
