Emmerdale is gearing up to set TVs ablaze with a massive new stunt, teases show boss Sophie Roper.

The ITV soap is getting ready to trump their previous jaw-dropping events like the epic Hotten Bypass crash or last year's nail-biting cliffside tumble featuring Chloe Harris. Chatting with The Mirror and other press, Roper spilled the beans: "We've got a lot of stunts coming up - some we're actually filming this week."

She cranked up the hype, dropping clues about the upcoming chaos: "What I can tell you is there will be fire engines involved. So take from that what you will. It's going to be a really explosive week of Emmerdale."

But it's not just flames causing a stir in the Dales; fans are on tenterhooks as beloved Belle Dingle squares up to the vile Tom King, who's been dishing out a chilling dose of abuse and mind games to his missus. Will Belle manage to slip from his grasp?

Post Office Explosion
It's far from the first fiery explosion the soap has seen

Dishing the dirt on the gripping plot, she said: "Belle and Tom is obviously a huge storyline for us at the moment and incredibly important but difficult storylines to watch at the moment. It's resonating with our audience because, of course, it's such a huge, real issue. We're continuing with that story, trying to be really truthful to those kinds of relationships."

"We've got a special episode coming up that sees Tom and Belle head off to Wales on a trip away together. Actually we recreated Wales in Yorkshire. Our fantastic design team used a cottage in the village that we redressed and made this beautiful Welsh retreat. The story, set to the backdrop of this beautiful cottage, is going to be really hard-hitting."

She further hinted at what viewers can expect from the distressing scenes: "Tom is very much isolating Belle from her family, from her surroundings, from everything that she knows and loves, which is unfortunately a typical trait of abusers. It will be difficult drama at moments, but a really important message and a really important story to continue to tell."

Could this stunt be linked to Tom and Belle - or could someone else be facing a dramatic time in Emmerdale in the upcoming months?

Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7:30pm on ITV1.
