Last year our researchers showed how artificial intelligence could help diagnose Barrett's oesophagus, a condition that can increase the risk of developing oesophageal cancer.
Using artificial intelligence means they can now automate the analysis of samples collected by the Cytosponge – a sponge-on-a-string tool that can detect Barrett’s oesophagus. Not only could this free up time for doctors and reduce the strain on the NHS, it means we can diagnose cancer earlier.
