Pioneering Research celebrates some of the many achievements for CRUK and for researchers in our community over the last year, and the work we are doing right now as we implement our research strategy.

How we funded research in 2016/17
Last year we spent £386 million on your research, funding 4,000 researchers plus infrastructure and partnerships across the full breadth of basic, translational, clinical and population research.

The microbiome and cancer: what’s all the fuss about?
With researchers increasingly interested in links between cancer and the microorganisms that call our body home, we take a look at what’s happening in this field and ask leading figures if they think it will live up to the hype.
Grand Challenge: The beginning of a global movement against cancer
In October 2015, we launched Grand Challenge, aiming of bringing together the world’s greatest scientific minds to revolutionise the outlook for cancer. Now we've awarded a total of more than £70 million to four outstanding teams.
